If there's any question that modern Britain has become a closed society, this article should set it to rest. Look at the comments section, where, among over 700 remarks you will be hard-put to find even one reaction given against the travesty that was the state-sanctioned murder of Alfie Evans.

That’s what makes this doubly sad. People talk about “Alfie’s law” as if it might pass parliament. No way! The people of Britain are simply lost. Even the Catholic bishops there supported this travesty.

Was he arrested for doing so?

The NHS was established in 1948, in a period that coincided with the demise of the British Empire. It’s been all downhill for them ever since.

Probably will be arrested and charged with interfering with government imposed death.

Sadly I fear that even amongst the religious, the temptation posed by this sort of "solution" to the problems posed by the dependency of the weak and sick will prove irresistible. It started with abortion, and will, I believe, proceed to its logical conclusion.

If you're familiar with the British pundit Peter Hitchens, you'll know that he blames the downfall of the Empire on Britain's having gone to war against Hitler and the Nazis. He simply can't (or doesn't want to) see it as the sole responsibility of the British people having flown to socialism directly after the war had ended.

I’ve said some prayers for little Alphie and his family. They deserved some common sense care from their doctors and country. Instead they faced evil in the hearts of man.

I wouldn't be surprised. This is all so infuriating and disgusting. My heart breaks for little Alfie's parents, and his extended family.

May little Alfie, little Charlie Gard, and all other British citizens MURDERED by the NHS Rest in Peace.

I wonder just how many of these deaths there are in total? Of course none of the Royals are included in that NHS death panel body count.

Just saw this:

Charlie Gard’s Parents Support Alfie’s Parents, Announce Campaign to Change Law

I know that for a period of at least 20 hours after the removal of the ventilator, the hospital discontinued the nutrition/hydration. I also read (where?) that they reinstated it briefly, then took it away again.

The final pictures apparently show a nasal cannula for O2. Did they or did they not withhold hydration? That's what newspaper reporters should be asking, not "Was their a face in the clouds?" --- which I suspect was repeatedly emphasized just to make his supporters look like sentimental fools.

mouth to mouth? That is not how you revive a person anymore. Good grief the father did nothing to help. He should have been giving chest compressions for 10 minutes and MAYBE he would have helped. He killed his kid. Good God. What a disaster.

I can't help but call to mind the words of old Mr. Dombey in Dickens's Dombey and Son when he finally realizes the wrong he has done his poor daughter, "Oh my God, forgive me, for I need it very much!"

But he was repentant, and the British aren't.

Are you being sarcastic, perchance? The poor guy probably didn't have a clue what he ought or ought not be doing in such a circumstance, and even if he did, it was a desperation move, taken because in the midst of his impotence against the force of the State his sense of manhood cried out that he needed to to something, even if it made no difference to the outcome. Think John Brown at Harper's Ferry; hopefully that will help.

I remember Charles Krauthammer made a snide comment about Britain's NHS a few years ago on Fox News. I wish I could remember the exact quote, but it was something like this:

"Great Britain traded their Navy -- once the greatest naval force in the world -- for socialism and the National Health Service."

"Great Britain traded their Navy -- once the greatest naval force in the world -- for socialism and the National Health Service."

Very true, indeed.

Think of the words of Dickens's Mr. Bumble, of "the law is an ass" fame.

"I sold myself,' said Mr. Bumble, pursuing the same train of relection, 'for six teaspoons, a pair of sugar-tongs, and a milk-pot; with a small quantity of second-hand furniture, and twenty pound in money. I went very reasonable. Cheap, dirt cheap!"

You are cruel, self-righteous and judgemental. You were not there, so you cannot be sure of all of the facts.

If the child was not breathing and his heart was not beating, he was dead, in which case his death didn’t kill him.

Do you know for certain that was not the case?
