The states are the fundamental building blocks of America, which is why we have an electoral college.

If California wants to mandate minimum 200 mpg cars, then let them. If California wants to mandate only cars that emit no hydrocarbons while in operation, then let them. They can manufacture their own cars.

What bothers me is the Federal Government overreaching their Constitutional powers and imposing fuel economy and emissions standards on cars. That is 100% the authority of the separate sovereign states and the Fed gov should have no role in that whatsoever.

CARB is evil.

http://www.killcarb.org/

http://www.killcarb.org/TomMcClintock.html

oalition of Energy Users Petition to Abolish CARB

WHEREAS: CARB is an unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy whose actions have killed jobs and harmed our economy.

WHEREAS: CARB has committed serious ethical lapses with its failure to terminate an employee with falsified credentials, failure to withdraw costly regulations based on this employee’s faulty research and failure to account for millions in funds designated for AB32 implementation.

WHEREAS: CARB has abused its power by levying millions of dollars in disproportionate fines on business owners who have not violated existing laws or who have committed only minor technical oversights.

WHEREAS: CARB has proposed or implemented policies that infringe on our right to make our own decisions and run our own lives. Examples include proposed taxeson vehicles CARB does not approve of, mandatory programmable thermostats, imprisonment for not inflating our tires and penalties for dissent.

WHEREAS: CARB continues to move forward with plans to mandate increased ethanol usage despite overwhelming evidence that ethanol will significantly raise fuel costs without improving the environment.

WHEREAS: CARB has promised its actions will lead to a prosperous new green economy that has failed to materialize but that have instead turned California into a national leader in high unemployment.

BE IT RESOLVED: CARB should be abolished! We need jobs and a healthy economy, not punitive and unfair regulations!

I will take heat for saying that liberals aren’t all bad and have solved some problems that conservatives would not touch. y problem with liberals is after they solve a problem, they go overboard to the point of absurdity.

Once water is clean, they want to spend us into bankruptcy to make it pristine. Once air is clean, they want to make it purified to the point of cleaner than in nature, and are willing to bankrupt us doing so. Once species are saved, they want to bankrupt us making them thrive beyond the level nature bestowed on them.

Liberals always go overboard after solving a problem and that last 1% they are fighting for always costs 99% of the money they spend. They have no clue of the value of money and waste trillions on that meaningless last 1% of purity or perfection. Idiots. Morons. Dupes.

The EPA needs to eliminate the requirements for diesel particulate filters and diesel exhaust fluid on fire trucks over 26,000 GVW. Trucks made for export do not have the stuff. That would save fire departments a significant amount on new equipment and eliminate a source of maintenance, reliability and safety issues.

Scare story.

The titles for this story the media is presenting is working well with it’s objective - making people think Trump’s EPA is hitting an emissions reset button back to the 1960s.

All that is really taking place is hitting the reset button on how far the Obama administration increased, needlessly, some EPA “standards”.

No, I agree. I like my 40-hour work week and child labor laws. I appreciate that there is some measure of a safety net out there. I don't want to live in Calcutta; polluted, dirty, starving children dying on the streets. I like clean air and clean water.

But I also like being able to earn a living.

And I like having cars that run decently! Remember those bulletproof 4.0 liter inline 6 cylinders that Jeep used to make? They'd run for a half million miles! Ever wonder what happened to them? The EPA took them away. That's what happened. Same with those over-engineered Supra I6 engines. Obama killed off the 4.0 liter V6 that powered Tacomas, replacing it with an anemic 3.2 liter that (debatably) gets better mileage. Ford F150s are made from aluminum now to increase their MPG and comply with CAFE standards.

So yes, progressives gave us some good things, we thanked them, and then they kept on going! STOP ALREADY!
