Neither party are interested in cutting spending, they are only interested in advancing their list of spending priorities. With both chambers closely divided, they can only manage to pass both lists. Not good. It will get worse if the Democrats take control of one or both of the Houses of Congress.
However, the CBO numbers are incorrect. They assume that revenue will not change and we know that revenues are already up. Tax cuts have almost always resulted in increased revenues because of the stimulus effect.
