French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview on Sunday described his "special" relationship with President Trump, saying they are both "mavericks."
"We have this very special relationship because the both of us are probably the mavericks of the system," Macron told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."
"I think President Trump's election was unexpected in your country, and probably my election was unexpected in my country. We are not part of the classical political system," he added.

Surely they could have found something in the interview they could spin to make it look like Macron was distancing himself or questioning Trumps' ability to be president.
Go back to 2016 in France and look who funded the whole start-up campaign of Macron from scratch. Lot of business fronts. Unions have woke up in past couple of months....all peeved because Macron is making Trump-like decisions. By the end of the year....compare change accomplished by Macron with their booming economy at that point.

These statements imply there is more to it. I still dont think the two are kindred spirits politically but they seem to respect each other which is not than can be said of May or Merkel.
