Mitch McConnell Puts Kibosh on Bill Protecting Robert Mueller

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that he would not be making floor time for legislation designed to shield Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III from firing.

McConnell’s determination that the action is not needed is apparently regardless of what happens in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“I don’t think he should fire Mueller, and I don’t think he’s going to,” the Kentucky Republican said. “So, this is a piece of legislation that’s not necessary in my judgment.”

Right-o! Exactly so! MMcC should do this so that the President doesn’t have to. Would that he (MMcC) had some testicular fortitude!

The Tenure of Office Act (2018) is no more constitutional than it was in 1867.

He’s trying to pull his ass out of the frying pan.

Ryan has walked away from this hot mess, and McConnell is left with all of this.

Either way, I say that his sorry ass is toast.

These gutless republican bastards stood by and did nothing while the socialist-democrats went full tilt Bolshevik on President Trump, while giving the big middle finger to EVERYONE who voted for him.

Self-preservation. McConnell and many GOP senators don’t want to have a recorded vote on such a bill. Such a vote would expose the anti-Trumpers who support the Mueller witch hunt.
..
Exactly...anything else is naivete and unicorns and rainbows.

Turtle may also see PDJT’S noose tightening on the swamp...why else would Ryan be exiting?

Once again Mitch comes through when it really counts. For this, he will be hated by demrats, weak-kneed republicans, and liberfarians.

This is a real good move on his part. Now he needs to fire Frau Mueller and his journey to the dark side against the Deep State will be complete.

Good, now accelerate votes on Trump’s judicial nominees from your current slow-walking snail’s pace!

You’re kidding, right. I mean, ok, he’s not going to allow this unconstitutional travesty to come to the floor. Good for him. He has the opportunty to save his party’s bacon from the effects of their disastrous agreement to the spending bill and he says no. Take a look at the thread that’s up now on that topic. Such a leader. You have to have consistent, rather than sporadic accomplishments to be more than the dead appendage that he is to the body politic

Do you honestly believe the old media criminals are going to ever provide stories of support for Trump. The old media is there to convince people that republicans don’t support him. You simply have no understanding of the divide and conquer concept. I expect better from freepers.

“Mitch still has some integrity and loyalty working for him.”

Nah. He’s got something else up his sleeve. Don’t know what, but integrity and loyalty are foreign to him.

uh, the hiring and firing of individual government employees (aside from certain appointments requiring Senate confirmation) Constitutionally belongs 100% to the head of the Executive Branch, NOT Congress!

I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t condescend to me. Indeed if they did The right thing and withdrew some of the spending the media wouldn’t give it positive coverage, but it’s the base that’s dispirited and the would definitely be aware of a rare bold stroke by their purported leadership

It infuriates me that Republicans won’t simply state such a bill would be unconstitutional.

ALL Prosecutors are members of the Executive Branch and serve at the President’s pleasure.

For those who have questions, look at Article II.

Aye, they did.

And there are innumerable fools on FR that will vote for those very same piss ants come November.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday thwarted a bipartisan effort to protect special counsel Robert Mueller’s job, saying he will not hold a floor vote on the legislation even if it is approved next week in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

McConnell said the bill is unnecessary because President Donald Trump will not fire Mueller.

“We’ll not be having this on the floor of the Senate,” McConnell said on Fox News.

Take that, Lindsey!
