German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Sunday voiced alarm over the growing “alienation” between Russia and the West, stressing the need for dialogue as post-Cold War tensions peak.

Speaking to the Bild am Sonntag newspaper, Steinmeier said last month’s poisoning of a former Russian spy in England, which Britain and its allies blame on Moscow, was “a very serious incident”.

“But we should be at least as worried about the galloping alienation between Russia and the West, the consequences of which stretch far beyond this case,” the former foreign minister said.

Moscow vehemently denies involvement in the nerve agent poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter, which triggered a wave of tit-for-tat diplomatic expulsions between Russia and Western countries.

A dispute over Western intervention in Syria has dramatically added to the tensions in recent days. …

Or the Ukraine, or Georgia or... They do seem to have very short memories in Germany. Of course, idiots in Russia don’t help their case in the slightest, especially with the fiction that Russian made Syrian air defense took down 71 cruise missiles... Show us the debris, Russia or just stop lying. You’re just making it harder when you do speak the truth.

Frankly, about 90-percent of Germans don’t care what Steinmeier says. The intellectual crowd may be all hyped up but you are correct....there’s a list of issues got Russia onto the bad-boy list. It’s been building up for three decades.

Maybe we should tells the russians that they can have east germany back, that is, assuming that the russians would even want it back, especially after the muslim “refugees” trash the place.

One of the biggest tragedies of the 20th century was not the abomination of the soviets and the post nazi cold war, but the decade long fumbling of the post cold war peace.

Had the U.S. treated the Russians as well as we treated the unrepentant german nazi pukes after the war, the world would be in a much better place, but then, the unrepentant nazi pukes who set up, and are still running our deep state could allow no such thing. Hence the rise of a pukebag like putin.

Well, we had the legacy of the Soviets all over our own government after the end of the Cold War. They hadn’t given up on taking the USA down.

Never mind the nucleus of what is now the European Union coming together so rapidly after WWII, in 1951, as the European Coal and Steel Community. If the USA’s government wasn’t permeated back then with what is known today as the “deep state”, we would have recognized it for what it is and smashed it. We also would not have allowed someone like Alger Hiss to write the UN’s charter, if there were to be a UN at all.

Merkel is pushing the gas/oil pipeline from Russia.....in response to our LNG plants and oil exports. Germany is a friend like Iran.

Prussia divides again. Waaaaaa. Let it go. We’re better off, even with our anglicized name spellings and smiles brought with sentimentality.

I would like to see the future where a comparison can be made of who “occupies” a country better: The US and Soviet Union splitting Germany or the Germany under the Islamic Caliphate Europa.

She’s been doing that for perhaps a decade now. Even more intensely since the nonsense she instituted about shutting down nuke plants on German soil because “Fukushima” (there is no place that can be hit by a tidal wave where the German nuke plants are FWICS). But the original Nord Stream pipeline idea dates back to 2001, and was designed to go around the former Eastern Bloc states. The modern-day Molotov-Ribbentrop stuff has been happening right under our noses.
