Blasts were reported in Damascus, Syria, just minutes after President Trump announced that he would be launching an attack in retaliation for last week's chemical attack by Bashar al-Assad on his own citizens.
Unverified videos appear to show the attack as it happened, with Tomahawk missiles lighting up the sky over the Syrian capital.
President Trump said in a speech from the White House that he "ordered the United States Armed Forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. A combined operation with the armed forces of France and the United Kingdom is now underway."
The U.S. is conducting precision air strikes with B1 bombers, and at least two structures have been hit, according to reports, including a scientific research facility that may have been a site where chemical weapons are produced.
The AP reported: "Syrias capital has been rocked by loud explosions that lit up the sky with heavy smoke as U.S. President Donald Trump announced airstrikes in retaliation for the countrys alleged use of chemical weapons."
AP reporters in Damascus saw smoke rising from the east side of Damascus. "Syrian state TV says the attack has begun on the capital, though it wasnt immediately clear what was targeted," the AP wrote.
Reuters is reporting that, according to a witness, several explosions have been heard in Damascus, with smoke rising on the east side of the city.
Syrian state TV claims that Syrian forces launched a counterattack and that 13 Tomahawk missiles were shot down by Syrian forces, although that information has not been verified.

Anyone listening to Laura Ingraham on Fox?
Tempers are flying. Never seen Gorka so pissed off...
Gorka is being really obnoxious tonight to Laura Ingraham and another guest.
Laura is beginning to get to me; trying to be too cool lately. Gorka was right to defend Trump and he is ticked.
Yep.. He was being very rude.. Laura didn’t let him get away with it
Laura and the Colonel both got their posteriors booted tonight.
Sara Carter, the other man, and Dr. Gorka were spot on in their analysis.
Based on what?
You dont know either buddy youre not there
Gorka is a jack ass.
“Anyone listening to Laura Ingraham on Fox?

Yes, I was watching and I have to agree with Dr. Gorka. IMHO Laura was off the rails tonight and Dr Gorka called her on it and she got pissed.
Hardly. Taking a quick look at the #maga Twitterverse, I would say 80% plus of the deplorables are against this ‘action’.
“Gorka is being really obnoxious tonight to Laura Ingraham and another guest.”
No, Dr Gorka was right on target. It was the guest and Laura who were being obnoxious.

If we do not act what kind of a messages does that send to a country like North Korea?
It sure doesn’t sound like candidate Trump. I figured they would start slipping something in those cherry cokes sooner or latter.
If they’re anything like those on FR the poor things just don’t seem to have a clue.
This is a necessary step to get us out of that quagmire.
In a month they’ll be singing praises for Trump when that becomes obvious.
