Somewhere between .05 and .95 according to the $1 price for a generic loaf in my area.

This column is about the price of wheat.

What I was pointing out is that the wheat cost of bread is miniscule.

I know that the bakery companies will try and use wheat to say that it costs twice as much to bake it, twice as much to wrap it, twice as much to transport it to the store,,

Oh ok. Give a year and we will see.

Far as I see it. The climate is getting colder and we will all get to experience shortages.

Besides all that. You are missing a few steps in the process. Harvesting it, transporting it, milling it, etc. If the crop is real short, some may just plow it back under. Will cost to much to send the combines in for the return.

It is currently 70 degrees in SE Michigan. On Saturday night the U.P. is supposed to get 18 inches of snow. Fortunately the local farmers have delayed putting their crops in due to unseasonably cold weather. The fruit trees have yet to bud, so we might be okay.

‘Fortunately the local farmers have delayed putting their crops in due to unseasonably cold weather.’

They probably listen to Joe Bastardi.

Lower harvest and higher prices for the 70% of acres not doing poorly.

"The down side is, you might want to pay attention because global food shortages will most likely lead to world war."

This is from a few weeks ago: https://www.agweb.com/article/russias-blizzard-is-a-blessing-for-wheat-fields-blmg/

Russia was the world’s largest exporter of wheat last season.

Well the failure of the wheat crop is what ultimately got Khrushchev fired.

I suspect most farmers in the UP of Michigan wouldn’t dare to put any crop in in early April.

Sounds like a good time for China to threaten a tariff on U.S. food imports.

Soy beans will be OK for late planting. But if the ground doesnt warm up, or stays wet, the corn crops could come up real short.

I understand that the fruit crops in places down south central have taken a hell of a hit.

Talked to the guys at Felch Mi yesterday. They are still logging. Nobody has EVER seen that EVER. Usually, spring thaw has set in and they get ready to go back to work the last week in April. It’ll be May or later this year, and that has NEVER happened...even in the heyday of the lumber barons. The log drives were full underway by this time back then.

The few farmers up there figure peas and oats for cattle feed this year since it will most likely be June before they can work the ground. Short duration corn doesnt yield real good.
