Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley said Thursday Democrats are delaying a bill to protect special counsel Robert Mueller in the event that President Trump moved to fire him.

Mr. Grassley said he had wanted to put the bill, introduced this week, on the agenda Thursday, which would set it up for a vote next week. But top committee Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein objected, which Mr. Grassley said will delay getting it done.

Yep, it is unconstitutional. I don’t think that will stop them from trying though. Look what they have done so far that they shouldn’t have been allowed to do.

This has more to do with Trump and Cruz jacking with the Renewable Fuel Standards , lowering RIN prices and hurting corn ethanol.

Such a bill would be unconstitutional as was the Tenure of Office Act (1867) which was ruled unconstitutional in 1926. See: Myers v. United States, 272 U.S. 52 (1926), which was a United States Supreme Court decision ruling that the President has the exclusive power to remove executive branch officials, and does not need the approval of the Senate or any other legislative body.

What, are you ageist? Grassley is a spring chicken at 84; no way has he been in DC too long.

Jk.

This is a high priority for Grassley I guess.

Not approving nominees for open positions or dealing with foreign policy issues.

Has AN (R)N(C) ‘reminded’ this over-paid, dip-shit re: Constitution\separation of powers??

I’ve NEVER seen a party do so much to turn people away from the polls in an upcoming election.

Is Grassley trying to protect Trump or betray him?

Grassley doesn't want the President to upset the apple cart right now. There is a possibility that there may be a SCOTUS opening (Kennedy) in the next 60-90 days. It will be hard enough to approve another conservative for the bench without the Dems being in revolt over the firing of Mueller or Rosenstein.

Grassley is a horse’s ass looking for a little publicity. Making him out to be more stupid than he really is...maybe.🐂💩 Such a measure is beyond stupid and would have zero chance of implementation.

Some say he will fire Rosenstein instead because he controls the Mueller fishing expedition. Steve Bannon is proposing this move as part of his advice to Trump on how to handle the Mueller fiasco at this point.

The Deep State and DC Swampers will DO ANYTHING they have to to close this deal on toppling Trump.

So what is Trump's tactic now that Mueller has crossed the line that Trump laid down several times by overstepping his boundaries on the investigation? Russian collusion is so far in the rear-view mirror, no one can even recall that it was the only reason for this investigation.

So what does Trump do? Blunt Mueller's impact by pardoning everyone Mueller touches or will touch?

Or as some suggest, that Trump has set a trap for Mueller somehow and that it is Mueller who will step in to it, not Trump?

Better real-world drama and political intrigue you couldn't get anywhere else. And we all have front row seats to watch it unfold.

Another loser RINO? Will the herd be culled anytime soon?

Mueller does not NEED protection. He is a criminal.

Grassley represented parts of Butler County in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1959 until 1975.[5] He then served in the United States House of Representatives from 1975 to 1981.
So Grassley first entered the sleazy world of politics when hula hoops and tailfins were all the rage. And Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris and Willie Mays were at the top of their games. Yet another reason why term limits are needed.

Every couple of decades, a Dem does better than a Pubbie.

In 2001-2 it was Senator Robert Byrd who stopped an amnesty bill on a technicality.

I am with DiFi on this one. What was Grassley thinking? Or was he?

Grassley is calling the dems bluff - he has been on point lately working on the intelligence reports on the FISA abuses.

Mueller coming up with nothing is the best case scenario for Trump, and Mueller has nothing. He won’t snare Trump, you don’t become a self made multi Billionaire by being an stupid.

Anyway, near the end we find that maybe Grassley is inserting a clause that forces the Mueller to report his findings to Congress on a regular basis. This is why DieFie won’t support it.

Hmmmm.
