Report: Chairman Nunes Preparing to Hold Rosenstein and Wray in Contempt of Congress
Gateway Pundit ^ | April 10, 2018 | by Cristina Laila

Posted on 04/10/2018 6:37:45 PM PDT by ethom

Chairman of the House Intel Committee Devin Nunes (R-CA) privately told several colleagues Tuesday it’s time for the House GOP to hold Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress if they refuse to hand over requested documents.

The Justice Department missed the initial April 5th deadline to give the House Judiciary Committee over 1.2 million documents related to Hillary’s email investigation and FISA abuses.

House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) sent a subpoena to the Justice Department on March 22nd requesting documents related to Hillary Clinton’s private server and email investigation.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was to appear before the House Judiciary Committee April 5th.

Bob Goodlatte requested these documents several months ago and only received a fraction of the documents.

President Trump blasted the DOJ for slow walking the unredacted documents related to Obama’s FISA abuse and wanted to know ‘what do they have to hide?’

Why is the GOP acting in such a civil manner in the face of Deep State thuggery?

Why not have US Marshals raid the FBI and DOJ for the 1.2 million documents they are fiercely working to hide?

Exactly. Establish the cause, which is valid.

Then act. Swiftly. Because they’re NOT working to make things better for the Presidency. /Captain Obvious

A committee vote isn’t good enough. Ryan will drag it out and give Rosenweasel every opportunity to get off the hook.

That is exactly what should happen. Do it the same day. I hope PDJT tweets he will fire any DOJ/FBI person held in contempt of congress.

YES ... and replace him with someone Trump (not relying on advice from Deep Staters or Deep State Wannabes) picks out. And that replacement needs to be STRONG, COURAGEOUS and an American Patriot who will not be cowed by the resident DOJ Deep Staters. It should be someone like Pruitt or Mick Mulvaney; someone who can go into HOSTILE TERRITORY and TAKE CHARGE and ADVANCE THE MAGA AGENDA. The replacement should not be picked on Sessions’ recommendation or subject to his approval since anything from Sessions would be as worthless as a fresh bucket of shit!

I think they need to tell Rosenstein either he appears, with all the unredacted documents, or the house will begin impeachment hearings against him.

Congress has the authority to arrest and imprison those found in Contempt. The power extends throughout the United States and is an inherent power (does not depend upon legislated act)

If found in Contempt the person can be arrested under a warrant of the Speaker of the House of Representatives or President of the Senate, by the respective Sergeant at Arms.

Statutory criminal contempt is an alternative to inherent contempt.

Under the inherent contempt power Congress may imprison a person for a specific period of time or an indefinite period of time, except a person imprisoned by the House of Representatives may not be imprisoned beyond adjournment of a session of Congress.

Imprisonment may be coercive or punitive.

In 1857, a New York Times reporter refused to say which members of Congress had asked him to get them bribes (protecting his “sources” just as various Judith Millers today protect the people who feed them proven lies that costs thousands of lives), so Congress locked him up until he answered and then banned him from Congress.

In 1924 an oil executive appeared but refused to answer certain questions, so the Senate held — literally held — him in contempt. Senator Thomas Walsh of Montana argued that this question of contempt was of the gravest importance, and that it involved “the very life of the effective existence of the House of Representatives of the United States and of the Senate of the United States.” The matter was taken to court, and the witness fined and imprisoned.

Nunes did admit a week ago the mistake of not impeaching Koskinen, Lerner, and by implication, Holder.

They cannot indict, but can impeach.

It is moot. I think the only real threat of impeachment is toward Trump.

Maybe this time things will be DIFFERENT - now that Dershowitz is on Trump’s team. Expect FIREWORKS.

Should hold Rosenstein and Wray in Contempt of Congress and have Sessions remove them from office awaiting trial by a specially appointed prosecutor.

Dershowitz IS on the Trump Team?
I hope so! He seems smart, sincere and supportive of the president. Mr. Trump needs some high caliber friends right about now.

Scary times, folks..

Trump appointed Sessions who is now himself OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE regarding the Deep State COUP on Trump.

Trump appointed Wray who is now OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE regarding Congressional subpoenas for documents.

A SPECIAL COUNSEL IS NEEDED TO INVESTIGATE WHO IS REALLY IN CHARGE OF THE DOJ AND FBI BECAUSE IT HAS BECOME QUITE OBVIOUS THAT NOT ONLY ARE SESSIONS AND WRAY NOT IN CONTROL, BUT TRUMP IS NOT IN CONTROL EITHER.

EXTRATERRESTRIALS, MAYBE? Is THAT what everyone is so afraid of?

So what good is Contempt of Congress when nothing follows. it becomes a certificate of honor to be hung up on the wall with the professional certifications and graduation certificates.

How about 60 some million, well armed, screaming supporters, and the US Army? I think this is a deliberate attempt to overthrow the duly elected president, otherwise known as treason. When will it be time for some serious action?
I hate to think the Army might be needed, but sometimes I wonder.
