Interesting guy on Fox news tonight -— a journalist who was held captive by rebels for two years. He basically said that none of the rebel groups could be trusted, and that all the factions in Syria share everything with each other. None can be trusted. I hope Trump doesn’t send any troops. When will we learn that they, like everyone else, just use us for what they can get?

There's another thread where a bunch of Bolton Boy Toys are castigating true conservatives and claiming to speak for FR.

When will they ever learn?

"All the bad people want us to get into a war"

Agree. There isn't any apparent reason for Assad to have done this attack. But radical Islam- Assad's opponents- would gain from chemical bombing their own people, in order to blame him for it.

They have a long history of hiding themselves, weapons, exc in hospitals and schools .
They do not value life.

IMO-Too many uncertainties about the details of what happened, who is responsible, and that the dark side pushing for it -Any one of these is reason enough to not rush to war.

I trust president Trump will make the right decision in any case.

Correct. Assad needs to stay - he’s no angel, but he’s the least bad option and he protects Christians in Syria

US military does not need to be used to fight for the national interests of Saudi Arabia & Israel against the national interests of Iran and Russia. This war is over land and control over a natural gas pipeline. I don’t care that Israel & SA are our allies.

These parties need to go to the UN to negotiate a resolution. This pipeline will provide natural gas to Eastern European nations. Make the UN earn its funding for once! We do not need to be militarily involved. Why not two pipelines?

Trump wants out but Obama caused a real mess that makes it less simple with Russia trying to expand her hegemony in the area and make use of Syria and Iran to cause its own mischief.

Trump's initial statements was to get the Brass actually planing an exit strategy and to come up with a list of ramifications under varying conditions - since the "game plan" seemed to be "hang around for the foreseeable future" this type planning was likely a set of empty file folders with "Syria Exit Plan - TBD" on the labels.

“This country will not tolerate another false pretext war.”

The ever baying war cultists can’t see the writing on the wall. Of the four principle candidates to actually finish the general election, three out of four were anti-war. Stein, Johnson and Trump. Only hag Hillary was stridently calling for more endless war. Despite their money, pravda press, and intrenched machines, ALL of the warmongers failed. Bush. Graham. Hillary. ALL OF THEM FAILED.

I’m so sick of foreign scum and domestic profiteers battening off of America’s blood and gold. We are so weak and deteriorated from what we were, all at the behest of foreign trash and ideologies. I’m so sick of AMERICAN interests being set aside for global posturing, and foreign advantage and manipulation.

I'm sure we will find out that the bastards gassed their own people and blamed it on Assad to keep us there

This isn't the first time. Remember the first time it happened? The argument why it had to have been Assad is that ISIS didn't have the skill to use or obtain chemical weapons! Then there's the more recent one where some here on FR are saying that Mattis said it was rebels. That got NO publicity. Then there's the logisistics. Didn't this "attack" happen in the small area of that town Syria didn't control?

I sleep on my thoughts, and during that time they get sharper focus. I'm thinking about President Trump falling for this. I do not understand at all how these hasty judgements make any sense considering his resume. He builds things....beautiful structures and golf courses that will last for the ages. He considers every detail and every obstacle as part of his planning. He makes careful plans and implements them carefully and with great knowledge. These hasty decisions against those who stand up to the globalist *astards? It's way out of character from what we expected.

President Trump, if you're reading this. PLEASE stop this snowball leading to horrific consequences in the ME and beyond. Assad and Orban (there is a handful of others) are the good guys! You're batting for the wrong team!

(If anyone knows what President Trump's FR name is, could this be forwarded to him?)

Wonderful article and propitious from Pat Buchanan. He stands with truth. Does trump know who gassed those people and based on what real evidence? Is this snother false pretext by the war crowd. Why is trump apparently not getting the facts here? If you have clout with your elected officials stop this war based on another lie!!is trump breaking another campaign promise?? Surely not!!

President Trump announced that troops were leaving Syria before he did it. Then, surprise~ A chemical attack! He NEVER should’ve given the war mongers early information so they could stage an incident and try to keep the war mongering going on.

So far, no evidence of chemical weapons or dead bodies have been discovered and unlike previous incidents the Syrian military now controls the scene of the alleged crime.

If the 'war mongers' refuse to investigate and/or ignore the clear evidence that this incident was staged, then they'll be exposed as the cowardly frauds they really are

We'll see if Briar Trump avoids the tar baby.

Supposed chemical attacks in Syria are used in kind of the same way school shooter attacks are used in our own country.

No longer odd that in both places, the very same people and their motley crew are behind the attacks in order to try to justify and change policy to their agenda.

Either way, the US is violating its Constitution and the elected representatives are shirking their responsibility.

As establishment neoconservatives, liberals, and globalists all demand deeper U.S. involvement in Syria's establishment-fueled civil war, much of President Donald Trump's base continues to advocate a total withdrawal of U.S. military forces from the region.

As is often the case, Trump had the right initial instincts on this - he suggested withdrawing from Syria and not getting involved further in their civil war. Then representatives of the political establishment started whispering in his ear, and he started coming around to their side.

Unfortunately, this has happened before on issues other than foreign policy too - Trump shows the right instincts on trade or immigration, and then retracts his proposal to something much more toothless and watered-down once the establishment shoves its oar in.
