Wasn’t this posted already? (And, yes, I know the search doesn’t work very well). Anyway, he signed the order yesterday and maybe troops started deploying last night. The DHS secretary said that might be the case in her briefing yesterday.
It’s a great plan so long as they’re there to keep illegal aliens out and not to keep them safe.
moonbeam brown will refuse to activate california national guard.
Then what?
...what remains to be seen is (1) How California cooperates, (2) How many troops (a thousand or a few thousand or serious and, as Trump said, strong, maybe a few 10s of thousands or more, and (3) their rules of engagement. Sadly, the DHS secretary has already attempted to lower expectations and relegated their role as simply support, like previous occasions.
Navy ships often carry Coast Guard personnel on board to handle contact with civilian vessels.
I don’t know why we couldn’t deploy troops to actually patrol, with a BP guy attached to keep it all legal when they do contact people crossing the border (for those worried about “posse comitatus”)...
Although I don’t know why posse comitatus even applies here. This is not law enforcement, and certainly it isn’t law enforcement against US citizens. Its guarding the border, and there is nothing the army will ever do that is more constitutional than that.
Well not really. No boots on the ground. Aerial surveillance only. Better than nothing I guess.
National Guard is not the military.
Homeland InSecurity bufoons are not the military.
U.S. Army & Marines are the military.
