Wasn’t this posted already? (And, yes, I know the search doesn’t work very well). Anyway, he signed the order yesterday and maybe troops started deploying last night. The DHS secretary said that might be the case in her briefing yesterday.
It’s a great plan so long as they’re there to keep illegal aliens out and not to keep them safe.
moonbeam brown will refuse to activate california national guard.
Then what?
...what remains to be seen is (1) How California cooperates, (2) How many troops (a thousand or a few thousand or serious and, as Trump said, strong, maybe a few 10s of thousands or more, and (3) their rules of engagement. Sadly, the DHS secretary has already attempted to lower expectations and relegated their role as simply support, like previous occasions.
In Breaking News yesterday.
Still is.
Damn it stop talking about it and do it.
Yes, that part of Washington Trump has learned all too well.
Issuance of Federal Oder.
the guard from other states will be sent in?
Then the president puts the guard under federal orders. This has been done many times before. Guard units are regularly deployed to the ME on federal orders and the governors have no say. Democrat racist govs Faubus and Wallace among others learned this in their fight against desegregation.
The state guard units are reservists who have one mission to respond to state emergencies but they are still DoD assets nonetheless. The president is the commander of all DoD assets.
Active the units based in the State of Jefferson.
PDJT already signed the order last night.
Navy ships often carry Coast Guard personnel on board to handle contact with civilian vessels.
I don’t know why we couldn’t deploy troops to actually patrol, with a BP guy attached to keep it all legal when they do contact people crossing the border (for those worried about “posse comitatus”)...
Although I don’t know why posse comitatus even applies here. This is not law enforcement, and certainly it isn’t law enforcement against US citizens. Its guarding the border, and there is nothing the army will ever do that is more constitutional than that.
I'm also concerned about that. Will our troops be ordered to actually repel the invaders, or will they simply process them into the country?
When Bush deployed the military to the border, it was all for show. They didn't turn around a single invader.
Will our troops be ordered to actually repel the invaders, or will they simply process them into the country?
Neither. It’s already been stated that they will provide ‘support’ so that the Border Patrol can be freed up to better do their jobs.
It’s the same thing Bush and Obama did. Don’t be fooled.
Well not really. No boots on the ground. Aerial surveillance only. Better than nothing I guess.
National Guard is not the military.
Homeland InSecurity bufoons are not the military.
U.S. Army & Marines are the military.
