Starbucks, other coffee sellers ordered to warn California customers of carcinogens in coffee

pdated 21 mins ago LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A judge ruled that Starbucks and other coffee sellers in California must provide a cancer warning on their products for customers.

A nonprofit group sued several companies that sell coffee, including Starbucks, coffee distributors and retailers in 2010.

The lawsuit claimed those companies violated state law, which requires them to warn consumers about chemicals in the roasting process that may cause cancer. One of those chemicals is acrylamide, which is a carcinogen.

Attorneys for about 90 companies said the chemical is present in the process, but that it's at harmless levels and is outweighed by the benefits of drinking a cup of coffee.

How about putting up a warning sign that California supports illegals sneaking into the country, stealing a gun, and shooting to death a woman in front of her father?

Please!

Everything causes cancer if you invest enough political research behind it.

I want a warning at every intersection that cars are deadly to pedestrians. I think this enforced warning crap is going too far. Warnings everywhere left and right, but the government won’t protect us from illegal criminal aliens.

If consumed in quantities like 50 cups a day. This is stupid. They rub caffeine on rats in quantities great enough to kill them. Then they declare caffeine as causing cancer.

Stupid lies.

The acrylamide is caused naturally from roasting, not an added chemical.

The hotter things are cooked, the more carcinogenic chemicals are formed. Deep-frying creates a lot, but the worst is when proteins are burnt black.

Too much Water and you drown.

They should Post Prop 65 Warnings at the Beach.

I like to get some Sun (we need a Prop 65 Warning about that too) when eating Lead Paint Chips washed down with some Antifreeze.

They need a Warning on the Door of Starbuck’s Restrooms. The person walking into one at the wrong time is much worse off than the Person who just walked out.

Starbucks Coffee does many things besides making you trendy and keeping you awake.

Star*ucks shouldn’t need to print the warnings.
There’s no taste and thusly almost certainly no coffee in their product

Something can get classified as a carcinogen at the drop of a feather. All it takes is an allegation and a small correlation, and the burden shifts to the manufacturer to prove that it is not a carcinogen. It’s hard to prove a negative. It’s all driven by plaintiffs lawyers.

One of those chemicals is acrylamide, which is a carcinogen.

The more acrylamide you're exposed to, the greater your risk of getting cancer from it.

Sort of like the more illegal aliens you are exposed to, the greater your risk one of them will kill you.

Hey, I've got an idea for a new warning label that should be put on every driver's license, every ballot on election day, and on the front page of every newspaper and magazine in the country.
