U.S. fourth-quarter growth revised up to 2.9 percent; consumer spending surges
Reuters ^ | March 28, 2018 | by Lucia Mutikani

U.S. economic growth slowed less than previously estimated in the fourth quarter as the biggest gain in consumer spending in three years partially offset the drag from a jump in imports.

Gross domestic product expanded at a 2.9 percent annual rate in the final three months of 2017, instead of the previously reported 2.5 percent, the Commerce Department said in its third estimate for the quarter on Wednesday. That was a slight moderation from the third quarter’s brisk 3.2 percent pace.

The upward revision to the fourth-quarter growth estimate also reflected less inventory reduction than previously reported. Economists polled by Reuters had expected that fourth-quarter GDP growth would be revised up to a 2.7 percent rate.

Wife usually gets back about 2 grand in taxes.

This year it was 5 grand, she found out this past Saturday.

And my 50th birthday is in May.

All ideas for cool gifts are welcome :)

You are not getting back anything. If you get a refund, it simply means you paid too much in estimated taxes.

However, in year 2018, you will most likely pay less in federal income tax due to the tax reform legislation passed.

You are correct.

I dont get anything back because I claim about 5 dependents during the year and break even at the end.

Because I dont have 5 dependents.

Dont want the gov. earning any interest off of my money during the year.

Wife is afraid of doing that.

lol

She’s my wife!! :)

Well, I finally realized about two years ago that gambling, at least for me, is an utter fiasco.

So that trip is out.

I recently bought my Challenger so no down payment needed on that.

I’ve always wanted a stunning watch. But at 49, and without great wealth, it seems like that would not be sensible.

I dont want to pay down some debt with a birthday gift, do I? It would be the gift that keeps on giving as the interest rate isn’t so great.

An obvious trend...

When Obama was Pres., his economic numbers usually revised downward.

Now Trump’s seem to be being revised upward.
