Seems like blackmail to me.
Selling smiles is selling the primate gesture of submission
You are probably much younger than I am.
the correct term is dental tyranny
In my state supermarkets are required to report any household that doesn't buy at least two pounds of spinach,per occupant,per week.
“Not making 6 month dental appointments for your kid IS NOT abuse and neglect”
On top of the subject being discussed, not everyone needs a 6 month dental checkup. My wife goes for years without seeing the dentist and has had no problems.
Dentists know this but for whatever reasons pushes the 6 month cleaning/checkups.
At my previous dentist, as I was leaving the office, the receptionist asked if I wanted to make an appointment in 3 months. That’s when I changed dentists.
This may result in some Pediatric Dentists, needing total total upper and lower jaw Dentures or Dental implants, due to angry parents FISTs.
Perhaps not, but I hope that now you're an adult, and do see the benefits of good oral hygiene. That would include regular visits to the dentist, including professional cleanings.
So upsetting.
Many dental treatments are life shortening or neurotoxic. You arent a neglectful parent if youve researched and chose not to undergo certain controversial treatments.
Have we forgotten pro-choice, pro-freedom? You can outright KILL your baby but you cant choose to avoid fluoride (rat poison)?
I took my athlete son to a specialist to have his hurt arm examined. It turned out to be a spiral fracture. We explained what happened and my son told the doc how his coach had said (in heavy accent) you break your arm you keep doing it that way. I found out later that orthopedics are supposed to report limb spiral fractures of children because it is a sign of abuse. But my boy was so muscular and mentioned his coach as a witness, the doc clearly saw how it happened and believed us.
If you can...
That would include regular visits to the dentist, including professional cleanings.
The worst cases are where the kid still has baby teeth & the ‘
dentist’ decides & promotes a very large bill for ‘dental care’ on BABY TEETH.
Absolute extortion, IMO.
When I grew up you never heard of teeth cleaning.

My kids never went to a dentist. They do not have and never have had cavities. No tooth “straightening” either. They are now late 50’s and 60’s. Same teeth and no cavities. I think they all have good breath. At least no one complains or makes comments.
They don’t build tarter either. That is a genetic trait.
I wonder what their secret was as kids who ate Easter, etc candy out the whazoo. Now I wonder who there dentist isn’t. Looks like all of them.
This rule and PA laws are an infringement on our personal lives.
Let’s stop it.
The meta analysis of this thread simply concludes that come the revolution, I have to kill my kids’ dentist too.
The list is getting too long!
If you haven’t any teef;
up above or beneef;
you can gum it with your gummy, gum gums!
Puffed Grass!
The doctrine of Parens Patriae is wrong. Legislation to at least partially remedy the problem is long overdue. Push legislation to require a full body of evidence and jury, if demanded by the accused, in cases of child abuse accusations. Push it, until it passes.
has did you grow up in the 1600s. I lived in small coal mine town born in 46. Every year in school a dents came in looked in our moth and showed slides of his to clean your teeth and gave us bag of supplies. I’m talking mid 1950s.
