March for Our Lives: Gun control ideas sound good, but are deeply flawed and won’t save lives
Fox News ^ | March 24, 2018 | John R Lott Jr

America continues to mourn the 17 people killed in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida last month. There is an understandable emotional desire to “do something” in response – but without evaluating what the “something” will actually accomplish. This is the driving force behind the March for Our Lives taking place Saturday in Washington.

The motivations of many people taking part in the Washington event and other demonstrations around the country are sincere. But before we “do something,” we need to stop and think: what is the most sensible thing we should do? What will actually save lives and make us safer? It’s important to understand that the debate isn’t between those who want to end violence and those who support gun rights. Both sides want to end violence. The debate is simply over how best to keep Americans safe.

Supporting gun control is now the “in thing.” Stars such as Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus tweet their support. Time and Teen Vogue magazines run cover stories glorifying people working to put stricter controls on guns and ban some weapons. The New England Patriots used their team plane to fly students and families from Parkland, Florida, to Washington for Saturday’s gun control rally.

You would be unlikely to know it from the media coverage of the Washington demonstration, but only 47 percent of Americans between 13 and 17 believe that more gun control could reduce mass public shootings. Britain’s Guardian newspaper asked students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for their ideas on how to end violence. The ideas sound good at first glance and are certainly well-meaning. But in reality, the policies being proposed will either have no effect or even cause harm.

Here are four of those ideas, and a look at their.....

Every, single participant in this charade will be crying for a .38 if threatened by criminals/terrorists.

Except the “celebs” that is; they hire bodyguards.

The fools would be all for increasing gun rights if you just spun it as gun ownership stops white privilege.

Ideas that sound (feel) good but are deeply (logically) flawed?

That’s the definition of progressive (liberal, leftist, socialist) ideas.

I hope there's plenty of pro-2A supporters marching as well.

No, they do not sound good. If you want to be safe, then Armand defend yourselves. But if you choose to leave yourselves defenseless, don’t think you are going to attack me when you get attacked, because I am just going to laugh at you and consider you my enemy.

Why does any good idea “sound good?” Because at first glance it makes you FEEL good. But what makes a good idea a “bad idea?” Facts that prove the fallacy of the proposal. Liberals start and end with “feelings” rather than “logic.”

They are all spouting classic gun control talking points. Some over 40 years old.

The mental health issue and public official incompetence have fallen by the wayside.

Saving lives is not the point of gun control. Controlling lives is the point.

If Hillary were President her brown shirts would be going house to house looking for guns and internment camps would be ready.

Let’s start a movement that we will give up our guns if bodyguards are no longer allowed to be armed while guarding celebrities

March for our lives?

What an ‘effin joke.

This is a bunch of little brownshirtz marching in the streets demand that we disarm ourselves, “for the greater good.”

And people just can’t grasp how maniacs like hitler and stalin filled their ranks of secret police, commisars, gestapo, and hitler youth.

If you’re thinking that the whole fourth reich/communist revolution thing couldn’t possibly happen here in the good ole USA, you haven’t been paying attention.

One brave resource officer, with a gun, stopped a shooter in Maryland.

This brave act allowed many students the option of attending todays march.

14 Broward students could not attend the march, cause democrat policies tied the hands of a coward resource officer, allowing a madmen to slaughter the innocent
