Actor and comedian Bill Murray penned an op-ed Thursday comparing the Parkland shooting survivors to the students who helped end the Vietnam War.
Writing for NBC News THINK, Mr. Murray drew parallels between the Parkland students and the Vietnam War student protesters who spurred the antiwar movement of the 1960s.
I was thinking, looking at the kids in Parkland, Florida who have started these anti-gun protests, that it really was the students that began the end of the Vietnam War, Mr. Murray wrote. It was the students who made all the news, and that noise started, and then the movement wouldnt stop. I think, maybe, this noise that those students in Florida are making here, today will do something of the same nature.

Bill Murray should stick to comedy and learn something about the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

He should stick to History also. Although students were vocal during the Vietnam War, they made very little difference to the eventual ending of that conflict.
Very Little.
Bill Murray is insulting the Vietnam War Protestors.
They were wrong but they were better informed than the kids protesting the NRA now.
Let’s see:
Self-centered
Ignorant
Misguided
Leftist
Check it out, he’s right!
Bill, the war ended because the Dems did not want Nixon to take credit for the victory there. And remember, when the Americans left in 1975, that emboldened the Communists to imprison, torture, and murder many millions of innocents in both that country and neighbouring Cambodia.
Can it Bill while I’m still a fan.
There are two aspects here:
1) Will the media succeed, again, is exploiting the protesting youth to push forward an anti-American ideology? Murray may be accurately predicting the path that will be taken.
2) The students in the 60s were wrong. The students today are wrong. Hopefully, the media will fail in their little scheme of exploitation.
So . . . dope smoking communists?
only one problem...the anti war protests didnt end anything...even after Kent state..even after bombing Cambodia, Nixon absolutely crushed the “peace” candidate McGovern...the public turned against the Vietnam war..because the politicians wouldnt WIN IT!!!!!..thats why. This whole protest thing is so overblown. Especially the one tomorrow...wont change anything.
He’s partially right. In both cases, communists indoctrinated kids to try to make it look like the kids started it all.
I agree.
Both are anti-American idiots.
That was the first thing that crossed my mind.
Hated them then and hate them now.
Yup, both Communist-Fascist totalitarian nutters.
Yeah, and the antiwar movement had such good results. /s
What are they fighting for?
Don’t ask me, I don’t give a d@mn.
[[when you havent had your idealism broken yet, youre able to speak from a place that has no confusion,]]
Sorry Bill- I disagree- Your idealism at a young age isnt pure and correct- its emotion based- Kids ignores things like the constitution in order to come to their emotionally driven conclusions. While they may not feel confused about their idealism, its only because they havent matured enough to see just how wrong they are. I would have thought a man your age would have come to understand that fact by now, but apparently not?
Communists and useful idiots are always the same
Yup Bill - see also Russia, China and Venezuela.
Bill has always been a peacenik Buddhist so this attitude isnt surprising because he thinks this is all for a good cause.
Its not.
And it wont end well for the #ParklandPunks
What are any of them doing about school security? It’s all about taking 2nd Amendment rights away.
... which led to the killing fields of Cambodia and the Boat People refugees from Vietnam. Untold suffering caused by a bunch of self righteous idiots.
Bravo Mr. Murray, nice comparison.
