I haven’t been on a AFB lately. Most of the local Navy installations have popup barricades, (they’d ruin your day if deployed), at the main gates. Not sure what criteria is required to activate them.

Perhaps it was a probe to test responses.

I was stationed at Travis 93-97. They base entries had no barriers, and were typically manned by an E2 with a 9mm sidearm.

The flightline is about half a mile from the closest gate.
