I haven’t been on a AFB lately. Most of the local Navy installations have popup barricades, (they’d ruin your day if deployed), at the main gates. Not sure what criteria is required to activate them.

Perhaps it was a probe to test responses.

Maybe I’m cynical, but my first thought was “I hope they caught his FBI handler before he fled the scene”.

I know the base near me has pop ups... probably triggered by the gate guard.... but the guard would have to have the presence of mind to trip it.
