Suppose some did rank in the top quarter. You know they were not required to play by the same rules and yardstick as their white counterparts. Throughout their academic careers, protected groups are cut slack and measured by a different standard.

You know they were not required to play by the same rules and yardstick as their white counterparts. And who is most harmed by that? The black students who DO play by the rules they are not "required to play by", who succeed through their own efforts and talent. They are automatically assumed to be affirmative action graduates.
