A supposed eye witness told Shepard Smith on Fox News that he saw a crane drop a heavy object on one end of the bridge, causing it to collapse. He said the crane was then moved. This was not confirmed at news conferences which, as is usually the case in the initial stages of such events, gave very little information.

Honestly, this is the only issue I have with all the money POTUS wants to give states for infrastructure. They will NEVER spend it on the actual infrastructure and cut corners or just ignore repairs while shoveling the money into other things to get them elected.
That will be easy to tell from the people who are trained to analyze these kind of accidents.
