Republicans are panicking after a Democrat just cleaned up in a deep-red PA district

Republicans are panicked after Democrat Conor Lamb closed in on a victory over Republican Rick Saccone in a Pennsylvania congressional district that went for President Donald Trump by 20 points in 2016.

That Lamb could perform so well in a district that overwhelmingly supported Trump and had sent a Republican to Congress without much contention for the better part of two decades signaled major challenges for the party as it seeks to maintain its congressional majorities in this year's midterm elections.

"It's really hard to see how anyone looks at the factors Republicans are facing at this time, and the environment Republicans are in, and conclude anything other than that we are heading for a very difficult cycle," a Republican strategist close to the race told Business Insider.

"The narrow margin in a district the president won handily should be a serious wake up call for Republican incumbents across the map," the person added late Tuesday night. "No suburban district is safe and every candidate better be ready for the most difficult cycle of their career."

There are roughly 120 House seats currently controlled by Republicans in districts that are not as solidly Republican as Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District.

Lamb's results came on the heels of Democratic Sen. Doug Jones' shocking win in Alabama and big wins for the party in New Jersey and Virginia late last year. As of 12:30 a.m. on the East Coast, Lamb led Saccone by a slim margin of just more than 500 votes with only some absentee ballots outstanding. Lamb declared victory, and Democratic campaign groups followed suit.

Needing a huge boost from those ballots to leapfrog Lamb, Saccone told supporters he was going to "fight" until the very end. But many Democrats already proclaimed Lamb the victor.

I’m talking about those in the mid 30’s and 40’s. You know people who have been in the work force for a while and learned the “realities” of life.

I don’t really see it that way. Democrats lie about their agenda. They get caught after passing some power grab, get tossed out, rinse and repeat.

A few hundred votes and the several thousand absentee ballots yet to be counted does not qualify as “cleaning up”.

The real question is will the GOP in PA have the nads to call for a recount and the counting of the absentee ballots or will they fold like the cheap suits they’ve long been.

If democrats are involved then there is always cheating involved. If the democrat runs agreeing on the same issues as the republican then democrat is a liar. Democrats lie. They promise they’re conservative and then tell you to piss off once they are elected.

Cleaned up? I thought I saw it would need a recount it was so close. I have no doubt the alt left radical extremist dems will be able to come up with plenty of “lost” votes if needed.

In Hillary’s famous words, “what happened?”

- The Republican candidate looked like a slob and ran a tepid campaign.

- The Democrat came from an old-school Democrat political family that aren't radicals and who are personally well-liked, even by Republicans.

- Republican turnout was depressed by the "ick" factor of having had Tim Murphy lie to them about being a pro-life Conservative for nineteen years.

- The Republican was a member of the PA State Legislature. That is NOT a resume enhancer in anybody's mind.

- The Catholic Diocese once again allowed a Democrat to get away with the outrageous claim that he was "personally opposed" to abortion.

- The unions pulled out absolutely all the stops. They even canceled their long-running local radio show devoted to propaganda and organizing to reallocate those resources to GOTV.

Like it or not, Democrat voters are really, really motivated by this Trump-hating frenzy that says if they fail to show up and RESIST, the world is quite literally going to end.

I have long held the opinion that the GOP Establishment is happiest when they are in the Minority. As the minority party, they enjoy all of the perks and privileges that holding office offers while having the luxury of being able to “piss and moan” about not being able to do anything because they are the minority. No accountability and no responsibility to hamper their ability to fleece the taxpayers at will. There should have never been a question that the democRATs would lose this race in an epic fashion. The RNCC threw this race and nobody will convince me otherwise.

This makes sense, especially when you consider how McCain and Romney could hardly bring themselves to criticize Obama in even the mildest milquetoast way when they were the GOP nominees.

600 votes and 7000 uncounted absentee ballots. Bit early to call it.

People need to get worked up over putting up GOPe and RINO candidates, putting up lame candidates that run lousy campaigns. This guy in Pennsylvania didn’t raise any money and didn’t even run a campaign ad until about two weeks ago. Who can expect to win with that low energy?!

“Cleaned up????”

A bit of hyperbole there don’t you think!!!

Pennsylvania is one of the the states with huge voter registration problems, whose Sec’y of State refuses to verify with actual live citizens of voting age!

Another problem is that PA has a large Catholic population that seem to have absolutely no problem voting for “Catholic” politicians who are partial birth, late term, pro-abortion supporters and liars but they seems fine with them so long as they are not “fundy” pro-life Protestant!

Try as I might, I’ll never understand that!

Every excuse in the book being trotted out, none of which matter. It’s the pattern that doesn’t look good.

What’s next, hire Hillary to make better excuses?

Cleaned up is hardly the word. The rats ran a handpicked pretty boy who claimed to be a moderate and never even identified as a democrat.

They were able to put all their efforts into one guy. That won’t be happening in November.

Plus, the Republicans will have eight months of anti-Trump votes from this guy to show that he lied to the voters.

As long as we keep sending back benchers like McConnell, McCain, Ryan and Kevin McCarthy back to office, things will only stay the same. Those scumbags are even more odious and treacherous than Pelosi and Schumer could ever dream of being.

"Good.................."

They should panic!

But the district has (I read) a 50,000 vote D registration advantage, Saccone was outspent, is a weak candidate, there was NO Republican GOTV "ground game", and his predecessor had a "penis problem". He was down by 6 points in the last Monmouth poll before the election, and Trump almost pulled him over the line.

The district won't exist in November (Lamb, I've read, doesn't even live in the new district) so this is only a problem if the GOP doesn't learn anything from it.
