'A Wrinkle in Time' ditches the book's explicit Christian references...suffers because of it

Disney's big-budget adaptation of the best-selling novel "A Wrinkle in Time" falters in many of the same ways the book does— but there was one major change made in the movie from the novel. The film's version of events strips away explicit mention of God or religion, instead trimming down the central conflict to one between "evil" and "light."

Though the film adaptation has several critical flaws...the removal of L'Engle's religious overtones leads to a key issue.

....Author Madeleine L'Engle, who died in 2007 at age 88, spoke about the importance of her own Christian faith as it relates to "A Wrinkle in Time."

"If I've ever written a book that says what I feel about God and the universe, this is it," L'Engle reportedly wrote in her journal. "This is my psalm of praise to life, my stand for life against death."

Disney takes a story with a Christian message and tries to erase its presence.

Not good.

“Walt was always big into the occult so no surprise.”

Nonsense.

Why do people say stuff like this?

I doubt that that’s true; however, with the exception of “SONG OF THE SOUTH” ( which is a derivative, not actually taken from a book ), Disney has changed and ruined every single children’s movie that they ever made.

I see that Rotten Tomatoes has given the movie a rousing score of 42%. Maybe this movie is the answer to the question of “Life, the Universe and Everything.” (Apologies to Douglas Adams and his heirs)

It will be interesting to see how this PC POS movie will hold up at the box office against Disney’s other PC movie. I’m guessing a distant 2nd, if not further down the list.

You don’t remember all the rumors of his occult worship while he was alive? You could see it in half of his early movies.

I’m not interested in seeing this movie along with many other moviegoers apparently.

Sorry to say I’m not surprised. When I was younger I read the book and thought it was so so. I’m sure the movie is not even that good.

Disney and Hollywood removing positive references to Christianity from someone’s story. In other News of the Obvious, water is wet and the sun is bright.

Jackson tinkered with The Lord of the Rings more than I liked and completely ruined The Hobbit.

I don’t know how you can do that. The BBC did great adaptations of both for radio. All they had to do was get be the world what it wanted and film it.

Do some research on Walt Disney and the occult then get back to me. You are most likely an atheist who has no idea.

No.

I know a lot about Walt Disney and am not an atheist.

You are trafficking in gossip and bearing false witness.

Balderdash. Please document Disney pushing occult worship in "half of his early films".
