My shooting range requires special time/supervision when one wants to use a legal "machine gun".....they also require the same if one wants to use a bump stock because the effect is essentially the same - lots of rounds coming out and with even less control than with an actual fully automatic weapon.

Not trying to stir the pot, just pointing out that places concerned about safety, and full of gun enthusiasts, treat them like machine guns. No sense in requiring a federal license for fully automatic weapons if bump stocks are prevalent - seems like a real conversation should discuss whether to go one way or the other - take restrictions off fully auto weapons or treat weapons outfitted to fire in a fully auto mode the same as fully auto weapons.

Curious to see the conversations on this one.....said the Devil's advocate.....

-— the effect is essentially the same - lots of rounds coming out-—

The result is an essentially auto fire weapon.

Then FReepers relying only on semantics deny the fire is in effect automatic.

Although crude, the bump stock mechanism results in what is essentially automatic rapid fire

The problem is, a bumpstock auto weapon was used to slay innocents rather than progressive tyrants
