-— the effect is essentially the same - lots of rounds coming out-—

The result is an essentially auto fire weapon.

Then FReepers relying only on semantics deny the fire is in effect automatic.

Although crude, the bump stock mechanism results in what is essentially automatic rapid fire

The problem is, a bumpstock auto weapon was used to slay innocents rather than progressive tyrants

Agree - of course if full auto weapons were readily available, I would hazard they would be preferred because they are more accurate and probably more dependable than those using bump stocks.

I'll probably get flamed by some calling me a gun grabber when that is not my intent or desire - raised by an NRA-for life Dad and always been around weapons and would be one of those saying "Molon Labe" and meaning it if they decided to try to disarm us. But, if we want the opposition to use facts instead of just making convenient crap up, then we should be willing to do the same....I'm actually torn between whether fully auto weapons should be freely available or if bump stocks should just join the classification...I know I'm not one of the nuts I've seen spraying ammo and overheating parts and getting an erection from it, so I trust myself with a fully auto weapon - not so much a lot of the folks who are so rabid about having them. But, I'd be a lot more comfortable around fully auto by-design weapons than those using the parlor trick "work-arounds" for the "thrill" of making a lot of noise and turning barrels into welding rods "because it's fun"..
