He cares about that almost as much as evil marijuana.

Most machine guns are open bolt design. You can simulate machine gun fire but it doesn’t fit the true definition of a machine gun.

Agree - of course if full auto weapons were readily available, I would hazard they would be preferred because they are more accurate and probably more dependable than those using bump stocks.

I'll probably get flamed by some calling me a gun grabber when that is not my intent or desire - raised by an NRA-for life Dad and always been around weapons and would be one of those saying "Molon Labe" and meaning it if they decided to try to disarm us. But, if we want the opposition to use facts instead of just making convenient crap up, then we should be willing to do the same....I'm actually torn between whether fully auto weapons should be freely available or if bump stocks should just join the classification...I know I'm not one of the nuts I've seen spraying ammo and overheating parts and getting an erection from it, so I trust myself with a fully auto weapon - not so much a lot of the folks who are so rabid about having them. But, I'd be a lot more comfortable around fully auto by-design weapons than those using the parlor trick "work-arounds" for the "thrill" of making a lot of noise and turning barrels into welding rods "because it's fun"..

Donald Trump just threw away the 2020 election and he has no one to blame but himself.

He is a great fool, one who believes in confiscation first, due process second. Those are his words.

There’s no recovery for this or forgiveness for it. I hope we can get enough court picks before the end of his term, because he will not have another.

"...Much of it sounds has though it was promulgated by the ignorant gun grabbing left...."

Most of it IS being promulgated by the ignorant gun grabbing left.

And they're NOT so ignorant. They know exactly what they're doing.

I’ve got two points about that.

1) You are uninformed about this issue. If you had a blessed clue how bump stocks worked you’d understand that banning them throws the door open to banning all semi autos. The feat shown in the video can be accomplished without a bump stock. Bump firing requires no special equipment, a slide fire just makes it somewhat easier.

2) Fully automatic firearms are protected by the 2A. If there is a reason bump stocks shouldn’t exist it’s because full auto should be as legal as semi auto.

If you actually support banning bump stocks you support banning all semi auto and are part of the problem.

"...which one guy figured out a unique situation where it’s flaws didn’t much matter, and had a dozen spare rifles on hand. ..."

And what is missing from this whole debate is that bump stocks had NOTHING to do with Parkland. This assh*le kid was on local, County, and FBI radar for a long time, and SHOULD have been on the NICS no-buy list.

Neither a Bump Stock, nor the AR15 caused this havoc; an assh*le psychopath kid with a chip on his shoulder that was KNOWN to multiple levels of law enforcement agencies as a threat caused this. Period.

Police visited his house 45+ times on violence calls. He was expelled from school for threatening people. He should have set off alarm bells the MINUTE he tried to purchase one in the FFL's store.

But a whole bunch of alphabet agencies did not do their jobs. THAT is what is glaringly absent from the entire discussion. And those incompetent pukes STILL have their jobs.

Let's repeat that - a whole bunch of alphabet agencies did not do their jobs. And the Sheriff deputies sat outside wetting themselves while unarmed kids were being slaughtered, but again, only police should have guns.

But yeah, Governor Scott and all the RINOs... let's ban bump stocks, because, like, hey, THAT'LL stop the NEXT psychopath when the same incompetent people at the same alphabet agencies f*** up again.

Congrats to the governor. He passed MORE gun control than the muslim Kenyan did in eight years.

So they can all pat themselves on the back, and harrumph that they "did something", and in reality all they did was further infringe on the rights of innocent folks who ELECTED them to protect those same rights from the Democrats.

Stellar job, all around from our Public Servants.../s

“A rifle with a bump stock is a machine gun. The machinery is crude but it fires as long as the trigger is pulled. The weapon is therefore automatic.”

Uh, no. On a bump stock equipped gun the trigger is pulled once per shot. Just like a semi auto. Because it is a semi auto.

You are part of the problem. A semi auto can be bump fired without any special attachment. You open the door on this and you open the door to ban all semi auto.

I can assure you that if that happens, I absolutely will turn right around and make sure every FUDDS hunting rifle he inherited from his great grandpappy is outlawed and fed into the same wood chipper that the black rifles are.

We hang together, now, or we hang separately later. If we as a community choose later, I will not fight for those who threw me under the bus earlier.

“..You open the door on this and you open the door to ban all semi auto....”

Which is exactly the goal of the Left and their RINO allies.

Of course, that also depends on whether WE just roll over and comply.

“You keep telling yourself that...me, I’m ok with President Trump and Gov Scott decision. And the 3 people I know and trust that are gun owners feel the same way. Now multiply that across all the gun owners and you see what you are up against.”

When they come for your guns, I will not stand up for you. I will cheer as they plant their jackboot on your neck because should that day come, it will not be because of liberal loons. It will be because of people like you who were so quick to throw other gun owners under the bus.

The majority of Trump’s life he was a democrat gun-grabber. A few years ago he was on record as wanting to ban “assault weapons.” If Trump wants to get re-elected he needs to stop reverting back to his democrat days.

Pretty sure that P.Trump was registered as a Republican longer than Dem. On top of that, he hasn’t grabbed anybody’s guns, pussy, maybe :-)

The trigger is pulled automatically by the recoil action and the bump

No, it is not. The trigger is pulled by your finger, one shot per trigger pull.

You are part of the problem.

First of all, you are probably right. However bump stocks have been “jail bait” since they were declared legal. People have gone to jail over shoe laces, bubby ropes, and rubber bands. They were declared “legal” by an ATF letter, not by an actual law

Actual law, you say? Let's look at that actual law: The term “machinegun” means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.

The BATFE declared bump stocks legal BECAUSE THEY ARE. The law says they are legal, contrary to claims otherwise. The language of the law cannot be read, even by the highly creative BATFE (and trust me, if they could have found a way to make them MGs, they would have), to say that a stock with a spring in it is a freaking machine gun. If the components in question do not allow a firearm to fire more than one shot per function of the trigger, they are not machine gun parts. Period. The BATFE rendered it's ruling by, for once, reading the law correctly. Which is ironic as hell because what it means is that, at this very moment, the BATFE is more on the side of the 2A than the Florida GOP or the President. Load that one up in your pipes and smoke it.

What's particularly unsettling is how many people here are OK with the DoJ writing law through regulation and/or EO. That's some crap we criticized Obama for for 8 years, but suddenly it's OK now that an R is doing it.
