Judge denies motion to hold Reyna in contempt(Waco)

Three days after McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna was swept out of office in the Republican primary, a visiting judge who scolded him earlier this week for using a Twin Peaks biker's image in his political ads denied a motion to hold Reyna in contempt of court.

Judge Doug Shaver, of Houston, denied a motion Friday from Clint Broden, an attorney for Matthew Clendennen, to hold a hearing for Reyna to show why he should not be held in contempt for failing to immediately remove the campaign ads from his website, TV and his Facebook page as the judge ordered Monday.

Clendennen, of Hewitt, was arrested in the May 2015 shootout at Twin Peaks that left nine bikers dead and dozens injured. His trial is set for Oct. 15.

Shaver and special prosecutors are involved in Clendennen's case because Reyna and 54th State District Judge Matt Johnson recused themselves from the case.

Also on Monday, Shaver denied a defense motion to dismiss the indictment against Clendennen based on allegations of a speedy trial violation.

Shaver has placed the parties and witnesses in the case under a gag order. Broden declined comment on Shaver's latest ruling Friday, and Reyna did not return phone messages.

How does a primary sweep a candidate out of office? Shouldn’t this be to say, made him a lame duck?

October three plus years after the fact, speedy Trial for sure. I Personally cannot see any of these arrested not having major effects on their lives and this is before the Trials. Sleep well all those who planned this sorry mess.

Nearly three years after the fact and this judge does not see that this man is being systematically denied justice.

Another indication that we are living in a post constitutional republic.

Our constitutional rights are denied us over and over again yet we the people do nothing to correct that fact.

It’s amazing to me how bass ackwards these leftist regressives are. Gone from lifting humanity up down to murdering children in the womb.
