Two Miramar SWAT officers suspended for heading to Parkland massacre
Sun Sentinel ^ | 07-Mar-2018 | Linda Trischitta

When a gunman started shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, two Miramar SWAT team members did what comes naturally: They went to help.

Now they’ve been suspended for it.

The officers did not have permission to respond to the shooting at Parkland on Feb. 14, when 17 people were killed.

And that created an officer safety issue and left them unaccountable for their actions, according to their police department.

But their union reacted differently.

It’s about power and control, not safety.

Not needed because Broward Cowards were standing guard at a perimeter

A lot of these swat teams train with each other especially within the county. That way if something happens in an area where jurisdictions meet or overlap or maybe in an unincorporated area between jurisdictions they are able to work with each other.

Yep. Coward County Sheriff had a Safety Monitor™ monitoring the situation.

Why has FL Gov not suspended this idiot sheriff, yet?

Every new fact supports my impression that this was a much anticipated event. Everything was in place to political advantage of event.

Agreed. Too many dots are lining up with the vector pointing at the Control-LEFT media and the Deep State handlers with their ready-made legislative campaign.

How much effort does it take to identify weak-minded, unstable, medicated individuals who can be manipulated?

(I think I know the answer.)

by liberal logic is wasn’t them responding to the incident... it was their guns. So they can’t be held accountable.

Suspended for endangering officers who never went into the school u til the shooting was over? I think not.

Sending a message because these officers aren’t under the control of the sheriff and need to toe the story line? More likely.

Good thinking.

Feel free to call the Mayor’s office, tell them this makes Miramar look like they don’t want brave cops:

Permission? We don’t need no stinkin permission to go in there blazing away. OK, in reality they did a brave thing, now, picture 2 or 3 fathers of students going in their with their AR -15’s etc., would it not be the same? Brave yes, but they would bare full responsibility for their actions no mater how brave they were, and then have to explain to the judge how they felt they had the authority to go over the heads of the Police Dept who were responsible for the area.

Absolutely nothing has happened to the Cowards from Coward county, but these two men who ran to sound of the guns get punished severely.

These two are the kind of cops that take thei serve and protect vow seriously. That is why they are in the dog house. Police are supposed to stay out of dangerous situations. Cops getting killed or injured can blow a city’s budget.

HAd they been needed in the SWAT response to the school, they would have already been there.

Two members does not make a SWAT team.

I agree that the officers should be written up (not suspended, maybe grounded from SWAT for 2 weeks)because THEY LEFT THEIR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN ARMS 2 MEN DOWN. They left their assigned areas...which left those areas either short or devoid of a police presence. What would have happened had Mirimar needed their full SWAT team?

I know they are trained to run TO the danger, but there are discipline issues that they are also trained in. Act like a hot-head, and how dependable are you to the department? How can the chief be sure that they will always be where they're supposed to be?

I do think the punishment was too much. Great, now we've got two pissed off former SWAT guys running around.

You can’t just leave your assigned area like that.

Or, as heard in its more familiar form as the anthem of unionized gubermint workers: "not my job."

Two Miramar SWAT officers suspended for heading to Parkland massacre

Sounds eerily similar to what happened when there was an attempt to send aid to Benghazi. The dems would rather let people die.

Nothing happens to cops who sat around and did nothing.

But...but...they were just following orders.

"..the Police Dept who were responsible for the area.

Too bad the resposible police wont have to face a judge on why they FAILED to protect innocent lives.

Frankly I think they can.

All they have to do is just jump in the cop car and turn on the ignition and lights and siren and drive...

There they are, ready to help, and in position to kill a murderer since no one else was...

Oh one other thing, they can also tell the boss when they get a chance to...

“A third SWAT member, Officer Kevin Gonzalez, was accused of being linked to several social media posts that put the city and police in a negative light, and was suspended for violating the department’s social media policy and the code of conduct, Rues said.”

The pPolice hierarchy, trying to keep the public they supposedly serve, from knowing the truth! They have a “social media policy” to keep anyone from knowing what really happens Yeah, that’s the ticket!

“The officers did not have permission to respond to the shooting at Parkland on Feb. 14, when 17 people were killed.”

Since when do police need permission to intercede in an on view shots fired scenario? Sworn police have the authority to enforce law anywhere within a state. Even civilians can make citizens arrest. Must be another Coward county democrat hive.
