Yes, agreed Haghia Sophia was a church before the Ottomans took over, but it was a mosque for centuries, and no one of the Islamic persuasion had any problems with its shallow dome all that time, and many mosques were built in imitation of it.

An editorial posted on the Mashregh news website compared the curvature of the mosque to that of a Jewish yarmulke, accusing authorities of "treason" for approving it.
The "completely neutral" design betrays an "atheistic approach", the editorial said.
I think that it is a nice building.
