AG Jeff Sessions to make 'major sanctuary announcement' in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) —

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is coming to Sacramento on Wednesday morning to make a "major sanctuary jurisdiction announcement," officials with the Department of Justice released Tuesday.

The announcement will be happening at the 26th annual Law Enforcement Legislative Day hosted by the California Peace Officers' Association at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel next to the Golden 1 Center.

Sessions' appearance in Sacramento comes a week after more than 150 people were arrested in California for being in the country illegally during a three-day sweep by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

About half of those arrested for being in the country illegally had criminal convictions, ICE officials said.

A day before the sweep began, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf warned residents about the sweep, calling it her "duty and moral obligation" to warn families.

A top immigration official said Wednesday that about 800 people living illegally in Northern California were able to avoid arrest because of Schaaf's warning.

"What she did is no better than a gang lookout yelling 'police' when a police cruiser comes in the neighborhood, except she did it to a whole community," Thomas Homan, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement acting chief, told "Fox and Friends."

California became known as a "sanctuary state" after Senate Bill 54 was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown. It went into effect on Jan. 1 and prohibits police from asking questions about someone's immigration status during routine interactions.

Sadly, Sessions’ “major sanctuary jurisdiction announcement” is likely to be that he recuses himself.

We need just one arrest, prosecution and imprisonment (not fine, not probation) of just one government official - a mayor, a police chief, a janitor.

It would immediately put the frighteners on every smug SOB welcoming the Third World into the First.

We’ll see if Sessions can at least marginally redeem himself by — you know — actually enforcing the Constitution and laws he has sworn to protect, defend and uphold. Color me wary for now.

Hmmm..... In Tennessee, there is a court ruling that it is not illegal for a person to alert oncoming traffic by flashing headlights

The mayor may be right about not being illegal in her warning

Perhaps, Jeff Sessions can drop by the office of the California Attorney General and issue arrest warrants for Becerra and McCloskie.

Perhaps, nabbing Libby Schaaf on the same trip would be an added bonus.

Stand tall, Jeff. It’s OK to show your face after courts have paved the road for you. (I guess that’s how it works)

I’m in favor of tipping off this mayor every week for as long as it takes for her to no longer believe it, then doing the raid.

BEST CASE SCENERIO...

With Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf by his side, AG JEFF SESSION told her she was under arrest, then read her Miranda Rights. Scaaf was handcuffed and police immediately took her away. The crowd of illegal aliens quickly dispersed and were seen traveling towards the Mexican border. /s

Maybe, but some would LOVE the popularity and visibility it gave them, as well as the extra-than-thou virtue signaling over other lbtards.

Reminds me of the song lyrics by Paul Simon in “Me and Julio Down by the School Yard”

“In a couple of days they come and
Take me away
But the press let the story leak
And when the radical priest
Come to get me released
We was all on the cover of Newsweek”

And in all that time this “announcement” seems to be the first thing he’s ever done. I really think this guy goes to work each day, locks his office door, and then plays video games until it’s time to go home.

Libby Shaaf should be required to walk the neighborhoods of Oakland, at night, and by herself.

What I want to see is Sessions bringing Federal Marshall’s with him and arresting sanctuary city mayors and putting them in federal lockup

“major announcement” means he’s going to buckle down to some serious lip service about someone thinking about possibly one day considering a proposal to fine public officials for open treason.

Disliked Holder, but you got to admit he was loyal to Obama. Sessions is on the road to making himself one of the worst AGs in history.
