>(that you don’t have to cultivate, water, or fertilize), they just grow

Here in WA they most certainly are cultivated. After a clear cut, slash and stumps are removed and seedlings are planted.

That’s because the Democrats controlled Congress during Obamacare. That’s how the system works. Of course, with our pusillanimous Republicans, you can’t trust that they’ll put a stop to awful policies put forth by northeast blue states and California even when they’re in control. That’s another problem.

We need better Republicans and I would suggest, conservatives do what democrats did: move into the blue states and change them. Not going to happen.

Yes, I know, I visit relatives in California often enough.

Instead of the 10 cent tax, all they needed to do was REQUIRE retail merchants to have plastic bag recycle bins for their customers. Then social moral suasion can work to convince folks to just bring their plastic bags back to the stores.

Or perhaps you are planning an escape, saving them to make a rope for rappeling out the window?

I use them as liners for several wastebaskets around the house; also I use a cut-off one gallon plastic bottle with a grocery-bag liner as a "garbage bowl" on the kitchen counter. Throw food scraps and other countertop waste into it, then tie the bag off and throw it in the garbage under the sink a couple of times a day.

If I had to pay for the bags I probably wouldn't do it, but since they're "free" it's OK.

Yes, correct and where did a significant portion of the Democrats come from? NY. That's what I mean by exporting liberalism.

"I’ve got thousands of them saved up in the basement."

I need some, I use mine to pick up after the dogs, if I run low, I make the cashier double bag everything.

Well, the good news is, with fewer House seats, NYS has less power in the chamber with the power of the purse. :-)

So Andy, if you want to ban plastic bags, you'll need to change that order about your Correctional Officers having to bring their food items in, in see-thru bags. Paper ain't see-thru.

I retired from NY DOCS in 2003, but have two cousins who are still working as officers, and they advised me of this recent rule. More than likely stems from the escape from Dannemora. What's more, the state wants the officers to have to pay for those bags. Makes me glad I don't have to put up with that crap anymore.

In California they banned plastic grocery bags for the environment and the children then SOLD thicker plastic grocery bags to you for .10 cents each.

Kickbacks going to the democrat party.
