This could actually result in declining real estate values, and benefit those who remain, who will be able to buy or rent more cheaply in the future.

The rent prices are astronomical.

But bottom line, I would not live anywhere that is due for a big earthquake, and I believe SF is.

This is expected to continue into 2018, considering that as of February 2018, 49% of Bay Area residents were looking to move out of San Francisco, according to a survey by public relations firm Edelman.

That's an amazing statistic considering most Bay Area residents don't live in San Francisco.

The article is very confusing because it repeatedly conflates “San Francisco” with “the Bay Area”. San Francisco is only about 10 percent of the population of the Bay Area. It is not even the Bay Area’s largest city.

The sky-high rent and cost of living that we've come to expect from the Bay Area might have finally taken their toll on a large proportion of residents.

I saw an interview of a woman standing in front of a U-Haul and she said she couldn't the politics and illegals. Then the news caster said people were moving because of cost of living.

After reading some recent articles about San Francisco, I may never set foot in that city again as long as I live.

The well-to-do and forward-thinkers (upper middle/middle class) will be the ones to split first. The very rich will stay in their money protected fortresses. Some of the middle class will make the move...most wont have the money. The lower middle will despair and the dregs will stay for good and fester. just like this:

Why rent a U-haul? You can just ship your stuff on an LTL carrier for far cheaper.

I last set foot in San Francisco in 2005. At the time, I was shocked by how much of a sh*thole it was (bums literally sh*tting into garbage cans on the street), and that was in comparison to NYC. It seems it has gotten far worse over the past 13 years. I doubt I will ever go back there.

It is really tragic what liberalism can do...
