It seems PRESIDENT TRUMP comes up with the absurd to provoke debate on controversial issues. Gun control comment caused Americans to defend the 2nd Amendment. Term limits shined the light on those who REALLY want unlimited terms. (Obama)

Term limits for the President were a con forced through by the Dummycrats who wanted to protect FDR being the longest serving President for ever.

Look at who proposed that Amendment and pushed it through. It was Republicans, who feared a repeat of Roosevelt, since the Democratic coalition seemed at the time like it would be unbeatable for the foreseeable future.

When the battle heated up after the Bush Gore election where no winner was clear it was often brought up that Slick should just have another term and it could be redone next time around.

Anyone who really wants to be president for life would be foolish to wait until the age of 70 before running for the first time. :-P

In the "Be-careful-What-You-Wish-For" column, remember FDR was "president for life"

So was Lincoln, Kennedy, just to name a few.

I doubt Trump meant it. Probably another throwaway pandering line Trump throws out in such meetings. He does the same thing with our democrats and tries to butter them up too ... especially when the cameras are rolling.

No, it was the GOP -- basically seeking posthumous revenge on FDR. The 22nd Amendment was approved by Congress in 1947, when the Republicans had the majority in both the House and the Senate. I don't know the partisan breakdown of the vote but to get the 2/3 it must have had a lot of Republican support.

Not even an off had remark. It was a JOKE during a SPEECH that was intended to be HUMOROUS. In the same speech he said Jared Kushner wasn’t able to attend the dinner because his security clearance had been downgraded.

And, I suspect, like George Washington, my very favorite president, he is not interested in having power. He has given up much to step in to lead the untangling of the Deep State mexx, but, once that is done — God willing — he will be ready to go back to his private life.
