I agree with your assessment of Trump. He will turn out to be, I suspect, the greatest president of my lifetime. But I draw the line at a third term. I am betting he would, as well.

The action is a reversion to norm. China has always been ruled by one person.
What I suspect is that what is happening is the change will weaken the Communist Party grip. The future is with the young people that have abandoned communism for a degree of freedom and prosperity unthought of under strict communist rule.

I lived there at the time, and I distinctly remember very obvious fake ‘terrorist threats’ where the NYPD raced down the subways with dogs and all kinds of gear that looked like it came from Iraq.
He needed to look like he will “keep us safe”.
As soon as the last vote was counted the police and the dogs were all called off and nothing more was said or done.

I’ve lived in NYC for over 35 years, up and down subways, Penn Station, Grand Central, 42nd St. and Port Authority, and never seen anything like you are describing. All I see are bored National Guard. Even the week after 9/11, I didn’t see what you are describing.
