HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) Saying 76 percent of state residents support the idea, Democratic leaders at the State Capitol are pushing for Connecticut to become the 12th state to approve a compact calling for the elimination of the Electoral College for electing U.S. Presidents.
They say the Electoral College is an outdated relic of the past.
U.S. Presidents are elected by winning the most states with the most electoral votes. Electoral votes are determined by the size of a states Congressional delegation.
California has 55 electoral votes, while Connecticut has just seven.
Theres no other office in this country, other than the President of the United States, where the person who gets the most votes doesnt win that office, said State Senator Mae Flexer (D) with the Government Administration and Elections Committee. Its just not right and its time for that to change.
Last year, Republican Donald Trump lost the popular vote to Democrat Hillary Clinton, but won the Electoral College.
This also happened in 2000 when George W. Bush lost the popular vote to Democrat Al Gore but won the Electoral College.
I absolutely LOATHE the left.
AIM HIGH!
Specious argument of course.
Only when they lose.
When Obozo won, two times, they didn’t say a word.................
They also say that about the Constitution, The Bible and marriage and Family..................
The Constitution clearly sets out two different methods to amend the Constitution. This is not one of them.
If they want to do it there is a process outlined in the Constitution. Pass an amendment and do it.
Of course they probably can’t, so this is all about underhanded and sneaky back-door methods of getting their way.
exactly. When the Dummcraps win, they say jack sh*t. Only when they lose do they get their panties in a twist.
Without the electoral college, voter fraud anywhere is voter fraud everywhere.
It means that all those illegal votes in California alone can wipe out the influence of all the 3 EC vote states combined.
More virtue-signaling.
CT will never award its electoral votes to a Republican popular vote winner.
And it will never happen because Red States aren’t signing onto the National Popular Vote Compact.
Which also needs Congressional approval before it could take effect.
Regardless, the Electoral College and it’s function is specifically spelled out in the Constitution. Eliminating it requires a constitutional amendment. That requires 38 states to ratify the change.

“Without the electoral college, voter fraud anywhere is voter fraud everywhere.”
and hence, their reason for doing this vile thing. If the electoral college is moot, then 3 major cities (L.A., NYC and Chicago) will ALWAYS pick the next president due to suspicious voters.
Republicans should advance a bill that states, if a state votes to “secede” from the electoral college, they get no EC votes.
As (hopefully) the voter rolls are cleaned up, the fallback option for commies is the elimination of the Electoral College.
This past presidential election educated me and others WHY our FF included this in the formation of our Republic.
With increasing numbers of urban voters, brainwashed youth voters, etc., the Electoral College is perhaps our last safeguard.
Gee, let me think. Then the Democrats will only have to win California, Washington, Oregon, New York and a hand full of other traditionally Democrat states to rule the country forever. Exactly why the Founding Fathers decided on the Electoral College.

Mae, if I may call you Mae; you are a blithering s**thead of sloppy proportions. What is not right is that you believe you have an opinion and an insight that anyone else should listen to.
the Electoral College is an absolute necessity to prevent dictators. Just imagine what a mess we would have at this point if Hil Liar y had won. My god, it buggers my imagineation!
We are so fortunate to live in the United States of America and have a well articulated Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Lordy, just imagine the black boots thumping through our cities and towns!!1
