In Oct 2016, in the run up to the Presidential election. Democrat Senate candidate Feingold started talking about how Hillary would be taking “executive action” about guns once elected. He lost an election he was winning.
Democrats lost Maine 1, Michigan, Wisconsin and just about lost Minnesota. All dark blue working class areas with a strong hunting tradition.
Running against guns has become the new third rail of US Politics.

Trump is actually the only person in DC who seems to have a grasp on what the US People actually want. Harden the soft targets, raise the gun buying age to 21, a significant improvements in the mental health system to deal with the dangerously mentally ill, and signification improvement in the background check system
The current mental health and legal system SHOULD of stopped the Parkland shooting before it happened. It failed at every step of the way. Urging for MORE gun control laws is arguing to reinforcing failure.
More gun control would be akin to banning the pick up truck the drunk driver was driving after an accident while doing nothing about the problem of drunk driving!
