This nonsense again? The LEO in our family is furious that these jerks were derelict in their duty. Why do some on FR disparage all police officers when a couple of bad apples are exposed?

Because there is a trend and because the Thin Blue Line protects their own. Even in this case, you hear the Thin Blue Line talking about “procedures and policies” as an excuse for a MAN who possessed the necessary weaponry, armor, and skills not running to the the sound of guns to save children. The same Thin Blue Line will justify the shooting of an unarmed citizen for “failing to obey” and because LEOs have a “duty to not retreat”.
I have an LEO in my family too. Remember that everyone defends their profession as being noble and selfless and cops are used to being thought of in that way so much that they DEMAND it. Even gangsters believe that they are doing good for their community.
