OK that’s going overboard...
Knock it off
Believe it or not, he probably followed DOCUMENTED PROCEDURES while waiting for backup to arrive.
Granted- he should have gone in. I would like to think I would have gone in,... but he did not “assist” the murders.

The story is bogus. There is no trailers for the SROs they are regular cops with additional training. I live in Broward County and have worked for the Police Dept in m city as a Pension Trustee. When school is not in session the cops revert to being part of the street crime division. They are paid by the school board 40% and by the city 60%....In my town we have 2 SROs in our High School.....an always have....
If he had numerous run ins with cruz at the school, and there was video evidence (on 20 minute delay) of illegal activity by cruz that the deputy then despoiled, then yes, he did assist in those murders.
The most generous thing you can say about the deputy is that he's a coward.
The sheriff should resign, too.
It is NOT going overboard. His inaction amounts to criminal malfeasance at a minimum and a solid prosecutor could make a case for involuntary manslaughter.
Indict him, try him, convict, and incarcerate him.
L
Procedure since Columbine is the first officers on the scene must go in immediately to try and stop the killing, even if they are alone. The killing is usually over by the time more officers can arrive and get into the building. Hence what some call a ‘suicide entrance” has to be made.
