During his February 22 CPAC speech NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre suggested leftists are too focused on pushing gun control to redirect their energies and fight for school safety. LaPierre said, The elites dont care one wit about school children. If they truly cared, they would protect them.
He suggested a hatred for the NRA is the only passion leftists hold as strongly as they hold gun control.
TIME quoted LaPierre assessing the lefts reaction to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School attack. He suggested they viewed the emotional aftermath as an opportunity for more laws rather than an opportunity to actually make schools safer.
LaPierre said, Its not a safety issue, its a political issue. They care more about control. Their goal is to eliminate the Second Amendment and our firearms freedoms so they can eliminate all individual freedoms.
He contrasted this approach with that of the NRA, saying, They dont care if their laws work or not. They just want get more laws to get more control over people. But the NRA, the NRA does care.

“LaPierre said, Its not a safety issue, its a political issue. They care more about control.” BINGO.
He nailed it yesterday...........................wish all kids watched this speech
“Whit.”
Nailed it, aced it, can’t be stopped!
Maybe we can finally make the Democrats happy and pass a All Conservatives Must Have Their Hands Tied Behind Their Backs Law.
There is probably no man more hated and symbolically demonized by the left than Wayne LaPierre. I imagine threats to his life happen all the time. And yet he accepts the job to step forward, and become most visible, when events like this happen and exactly at the time the media and politicians have whipped the mob into a frenzy.
I would not want his job, and whatever he gets paid, its probably not enough.
My new meme: Dead kids are hard to teach. Their safety comes first.

Journalists have not one whit of a clue in the meaning and spelling of words.
From Chapter Two of the Conservative Debate Handbook:
A few years earlier, at the conclusion of the War, General Washington had put his thoughts on the Common Defence into a May 2, 1783 draft to Alexander Hamilton, entitled Sentiments On A Peace Establishment:
...to prove ...the Policy and expediency of resting the protection of the Country on a respectable and well established Militia, we might not only shew the propriety ...from our peculiar local situation, but we might have recourse to the Histories of Greece and Rome in their most virtuous and Patriotic ages.... we might see, with admiration, the Freedom and Independence of Switzerland supported for Centuries, in the midst of powerful and jealous neighbors, by means of a hardy and well organized Militia. ...
It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even of his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice...
The following month, June 8, 1783, Washington reported to the States, in surrendering the solemn trust of his command:
The Militia of this Country must be considered as the Palladium of our security, and the first effectual resort in case of hostility...
Washington's reference to the Swiss was quite revealing. Trained, as school boys, in the safe, correct and deadly accurate use of arms, the Swiss had and have managed to maintain an armed neutrality for generations amidst their more warlike, but less war efficient neighbors. While world travelers have reported for generations that Switzerland, where every household has its own military grade weapons, has the lowest crime rate in Europe. The Swiss have also managed to preserve the diverse rights of their 22 Cantons (or States) better than any other Federation in the world.
Yet perhaps the single most important reason why Washington wanted America to adopt the Swiss system, is that it teaches the youth--in the most immediate and compelling manner--the importance of that level of personal responsibility on which all of our other institutions are based. It gives youth a sense of purpose, importance and self-worth, for which all the words expended by "Liberal" theorists, from the Creation to this day, are no substitute.
Noun. whit (plural whits) The smallest part or particle imaginable; an iota.
Liberals only hate and vilify people who are effective.
Ronald Reagan
Newt Gingrich
Tom DeLay
Rush Limbaugh
Donald Trump
The NRA should have a sudden membership drive. Maybe have discounts for LEO and militaty
Well, whaddya expect from leftist 'half-whits'??? ;>)
Well...he IS right about that
I remember instances in the past where people were murdered but not shot. Politicians immediately started demanding “MORE GUN CONTROL!” to combat these non-gun crimes.
Guns Don’t Kill people - Political Correctness, Incompetence and Evil Kill People
When Law Enforcement and school administration screw ups result in 17 deaths how do they cover it up?
By blaming it on an inanimate object.
I remember 1968 when gun owners were blindsided by anti-gun hysteria. The NRA had a few hundred thousand and suddenly shot up to over a million. They still could not stop the steamroller hysteria but did manage to derail the “registration” demands.
The anti-gun forces “only” wanted to register guns and ban handguns. Rifles would not be banned they said. Then in 1985 came the first attempts to blindside rifle owners and ban rifles.
Never let down your guard!
