Hundreds gathered for the special session the council called to address an anti-Islam social media post member council member Tom Harrison shared Tuesday night. The post, which included a photo of a student wearing a hijab, said: "Share if you think Trump should ban Islam in American schools." Harrison removed the post the following day and apologized online.

Isn’t demanding somene’s resignation for his religious beliefs the very definition of bigtotry?
I have a book called “I am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced” right here in my hands. Everyone should order this from Amazon or whatever book store you can find. This book was printed in 2010 so it should not be very expensive. Buy it and keep it in case the subject of Islam ever comes up among your friends or family. Bring it to any school board meetings where it might be necessary.
To those Americans who delight in calling other Americans bigots, just ask them what they would do if a ten year old Muslim girl in their kids classroom was somebodies “wife”.

Why would anyone apologize for using his 1st Amendment rights? Any apology, for a statement-of-fact or an important personal opinion, means you are a worthless snowflake, IMHO...

He might have considered using a different photo, but it wasn't the photo that got him in hot water. Good for him to push back now.

The practice? Yes. Islam is a socio-political system masquerading as a religion and should not have first amendment protection. Teaching the truth about it should be required, however.
He said no Islam in school, not no Muslims. If he would have said no Christianity in Plano schools all the PC folks would have been congratulating him for his stand.

Freedom of speech is only for those the left agrees with as we see every day. Stick with it Tom, do not resign!
The Plano mayor is a Haitian, and the city council embraced a gay rights ordinance to get the Toyota headquarters. (A couple of so-called conservatives were elected after that, but they turned out to be team players instead of disruptors.)
The city has at least three Muslim places of worship - a Mosque, a Ismaili Jamatkhana, and an Islamic Center or two.
The 3rd Congressional district may not go democrat this time around, but that result doesn’t appear to be very far away.
Good for him for standing up to islamic terrorists!
