Rush Limbaugh on Florida Shooting: Gun-Free School Zones Mean Only the Attacker Is Armed
Breitbart ^ | 18 Feb 2018 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 02/18/2018 9:37:04 AM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

During the February 18 airing of Fox News Sunday Rush Limbaugh referenced the Florida shooting and observed that gun-free school zones mean that attackers are the only ones who are armed Limbaugh noted how bewildering it is that “we have armed security at virtually every public entity in this country, except schools. For some reason, they are a gun-free zone and everybody that wants to shoot up a school knows that they are going to be the only one armed.”

In other words, law-abiding teachers, staff, and administrators are unarmed, which means the person who enters campus to commit heinous acts need not fear armed resistance.

This gun-free scenario led Limbaugh to observe that school shootings will not end until we “get serious” about stopping them, and he painted a distressing picture of what our future holds until we do get serious:

The next shooter probably has the gun he is going to use. The next shooter is known by many people in his community who are concerned that this guy may do what everybody is afraid he’s going to do. …We can wish that it weren’t this way. We can wish that Congress could legislate it away. But they can’t.” He observed that student marches and “prayers and condolences” are not going to prevent another shooting either.

An FYI, the GFSZA, Gun Free School Zone Act is a Federal law and was signed in 1990 by then President George H.W. Bush, sponsored by then Senator Joe Biden.

A monumental failure.

The High School in question had 7 full time costumed gov’t employees tasked with security.

What the F is this. Is this true? President Trump, kill this rotten piece of shi! law, now. It's bad enough that it is obvious that the communists Democrats don't mind kids being killed but a crap law like this?

Hence the importance of letting the adult would-be targets arm themselves.

The guards are there for a lousy paycheck, and no bonus if they actually step in harm’s way. The attacker will of course avoid them.

The teachers ARE in harm’s way, should ham come. The first may have no warning; the rest will hear the commotion and have time (though little) to draw.

Incident shows the fallacy of paranoid imperative of disarming all.

correct - I‘m thinking the same as you.

plus - stop forcing kids to take psycho-tropic drugs

plus - bring back industrial arts ( because it drives some kids insane to be forced to sit in a classroom 6 hours/day )

I carry everywhere that I go, so I avoid schools except to vote or go to a meeting and then I only carry a small, well concealed 22 {and that is only semi-legal:)}.

I believe it would be imprudent to travel while totally disarmed, and will risk bending an illegal law in order to save a life {kinda like going 62 in a 55mph zone}.

Rather then once again pimp the failed 1960s political dogma on Guns, how about we take some steps to reform a mental health system that demands a crazy, clearly on his way to be a mass shooter, has to be “mainstreamed” instead of institutionalized.

You are out in the weeds a little when it comes to
psychotropic medications. Take it from one who spent
twenty years working with severely emotionally disturbed
teens.

so you earned your living dispensing drugs to kids - of course you‘ll argue for the ‚benefits‘

Facts are - every single mass shooter had been pumped full of these poisons for years. every. single. one.

Or we could abolish the FBI and establish an agency that would investigate people who brag publicly about aspiring to be professional school shooters.

Sounds like you are advocating that Trump run for Congress, since the Executive Branch doesn’t “kill” laws - that’s the job of the Legislative Branch.

Twenty years. That’s all it took to go from the administration of a small Wisconsin school letting kids check their guns in at the principal’s office if they had a shotgun or rifle left in their car from hunting, to having the Gun Free sign on all the doors and only one access door open to the public.

Just twenty years.

And twenty years from now we’ll either have repealed the 2nd Amendment while school shootings continue or there will be gun safes in every school and the shootings will have ended. Based on current trends, the 2nd Amendment is toast, and so are the kids.

I earned my living counseling, consoling, being kicked,
spit at, and listening to people defaming my mother whom
they had never met. If you think that I was paid based on
dispensing “drugs to kids” then you are, indeed, an idiot.

I trust that you have also worked in child mental
health and have had experience with direct supervision
of from one to ten severely emotionally disturbed teen
boys at one time. If you haven’t then you can only
make a foolish ass of yourself by arguing with
someone who has been there, done that. Or maybe you
can tell we your profession so I can tell you about
your job.

Psychotropic drugs are not the answer to every problem.
I’ve seen kids taking meds to little or no effect.
Maybe it is because the dosage or particular med is
wrong but I can tell you one thing; you have encountered
adults who depend and have depended on psychotropic
medication to function in public. We all have met
those people, we just don’t know it. Let me leave you
with this. Maybe every mass shooter has taken
psych meds. All that reveals is that mental health
issues were diagnosed previously. The meds are
tools that may or may not work as desired. But
there is sure as hell little to no evidence which
generally links meds to murders unless the perp
has decided to stop taking his prescription.

If by “drug pushers” you mean psychiatrists then
drug manufacturers may provide kickbacks but on
the hospital and pharmacy level, not necessarily
on the independent shrink’s level. If you are saying
that ALL of the MDs I dealt with were ‘on the take’
then I challenge you to prove it or STFU. Why? Because
the shrinks I worked with wrote scripts for generic
meds. They had no idea which brands (manufacturers) our
institutional pharmacy supplied. In other words IF
there were kick backs it was on the pharmacy side and
our independent psychiatrists didn’t earn an extra
dime. They just made the diagnosis, prescribed the
meds, and monitored the kids thru the therapists &
staff reports and their own monthly sessions with the
boys. Other than that these shrinks are MDs who are
professionals who are paid about $250/hr and up.
So,if you think the whole lot of them don’t care
what they do for $ then maybe you should consider
seeing a psychiatrist for yourself. You can even
refuse to accept any meds he/she may prescribe.
