A Trump-appointed federal judge said Friday that he will not recuse himself from a lawsuit related to the Steele dossier.
Trevor McFadden, a judge in Washington, D.C., issued the ruling in response to a recusal request submitted last month by Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that commissioned the dossier.
Fusion sought McFaddens recusal as part of an attempt to avoid complying with a subpoena issued by a Russian businessman who is suing BuzzFeed News for publishing the unverified dossier. The businessman, Aleksej Gubarev, seeks depositions and documents from Fusion GPS as part of the lawsuit.
Fusion has argued that McFadden has several potential conflicts of interest warranting his removal from the case.
The firm pointed to McFaddens past work for a law firm that represented a Russian banker who is suing Fusion GPS over the dossier, which was written by former British spy Christopher Steele. McFadden should also step down from the case, Fusion argued, because of volunteer work he did for the Trump campaign.
Fusion argued that the volunteer work is a conflict of interest because the dossier makes direct allegations about Trump, namely that he is being blackmailed by the Russian government and that members of his campaign coordinated with Kremlin operatives to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.
Trump and members of his campaign have vehemently denied the allegations made by Steele, a former MI6 agent.

It is unclear why Chutkan recused herself from the case. Gubarevs legal team has said it did not make a request for Chutkans recusal.
From Wikipedia... https://en.wiki pedia.org/wiki/Tanya_S._Chutkan
While a Partner at Boies Schiller & Flexner, Judge Chutkan represented Theranos, which hired the investigative firm Fusion GPS to threaten the news media. Despite the threats, the Wall Street Journal's reporting resulted in an SEC investigation and Theranos paying a $200 million dollar fine.[14]

The first judge assigned to the case, Judge Chutkan, recused herself from this and another GPS case. Now they want a second judge to recuse.
Forum shopping?
Good. I’m so sick of good people recusing while the Rats never do. The way Ginsburg has been shooting her mouth off she should recuse herself from any Trump related challenge.
Hell, one of Obonogo’s appointees even helped write the ACA yet went on to rule on it when it hit the SC.
The woman that started Theranos knew she was running a scam. For her it was all about her 15 minutes of fame and money.
She should be in jail.
They all know WHAT exactly?
A 19-year old does not run a scam like that without a lot of help. Who were the behind folks?
Hopefully McFadden has some steel and plays by the Dem rules, I’m the judge and I’m gonna decide this case and if you don’t like it lotsa luck in appeals court.
They know our highest court have been corrupted - at least two judges involved in these matters have been recused - and it appears Chuck Ross is one of just a few journalists that are curious how + when + why etc.
Worse.
In her confirmation hearings, Kegan testified that she would have an irreconcilable conflict of interest if the ACA ever got before the Court and committed that she would recuse if it did.
I have no idea why that is not grounds to impeach her.
HELLO...Judge Chutkan HAD to recuse HERSELF because she was the attorney for Fusion who was paid to threaten the media!
WHO is 19?
-—Boies-—
nuff said..... all bad guys
Elizabeth Anne Holmes founded Theranos when she was 19.
I think I read the entire article and I did NOT see the name Theranos.......did I miss it?

One would think so. But, these days, ethical behavior is not a forgone conclusion.
It might be grounds - but whoever brought it up would be barbequed by the press (the thug arm of the democrat party) for being sexist.
Here's the real reason she's untouchable - I'm guessing - based her early writings and University of Chicago background that at some point she a communist was a sympathizer:

Kagan attended Princeton University, where she earned an A.B., summa cum laude in history in 1981. Among the subjects she studied was the socialist movement in New York City in the early 20th century.
She wrote a senior thesis under historian Sean Wilentz titled " To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 19001933". In it she wrote, "Through its own internal feuding, then, the SP [Socialist Party] exhausted itself forever. The story is a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism's decline, still wish to change America."Above from wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elena_Kagan
STILL don’t know what THERANOS is!!!!
