Manafort is accused of puffing up the prospects of a property he got a bank loan for. I wouldn’t trust today’s FBI to get that right, though.

I bet he knows more than he should and won’t give mueller & co insurance. They are squeezing him into compliance. It’s getting very hot.

I’m thinking he knows it’s about over for this whole Special Prosecutor crap and won’t give them an inch. It’s smart. If he ‘admits’ to anything he kind of traps himself, because when it does end, he has to explain why he ‘admitted’ to something that wasn’t true.

And since he does have money, he can ride this out as long as needed.

“Manafort is accused of puffing up the prospects of a property he got a bank loan for.”

By that standard virtually EVERY BANKER in business in 2008 would be in jail now...when a grand total of ZERO bankers were prosecuted by Obama.

Manafort “sold” the value of the property to the bank using his expertise to determine a future value after it is developed.

The bank is supposed to have it’s own “experts” to determine with a reasonable degree of certainty if what Manafort said is reasonable.

It wouldn’t be surprising if about 10% of borrowers do the same thing. But if he’s not in default, is it fraud or fluff?

Exactly...sounds like Whitewater. But you go after the BANKS who are supposed to have APPRAISERS so slick people like Manafort and probably 80% of this country don’t take advantage of them.

Try 90%, at least during the bubbles. The banks know all that, which is why they are SUPPOSED to use unbiased appraisers.

Not much different than taking your old Toyota to CarMax and telling them it’s worth $50k. I doubt very much CarMax will cut you a check for $50k before running their own numbers.

In the above example, Joe takes his Toyota to CarMax, tells them it’s worth $50k, CarMax cuts him a check for $50k (without appraising), and then JOE GETS INDICTED by Mueller - not CarMax, or the guy working at CarMax.

I suspect that even Manafort is laughing at this ‘crime’.

“Where is Russia collusion?”

Manafort placed a Matryoshka doll on the property for good luck.

They will probably try the same charge on Trump. Mana Forte is the test case.
