A prominent Republican political donor demanded on Saturday that the party pass legislation to restrict access to guns, and vowed not to contribute to any candidates or electioneering groups that did not support a ban on the sale of military-style firearms to civilians.
Al Hoffman Jr., a Florida-based real estate developer who was a leading fund-raiser for George W. Bush’s campaigns, said he would seek to marshal support among other Republican political donors for a renewed assault weapons ban.

They want amnesty for 30 million.

I’ve related this story before, but several years ago, my brother and I had a lengthy chat with Don Davis, of Don’s Guns I Indy in one of his several stores.
Most will remember him locally for his wacky late-night commercials where he ended everyone by makinga gun with his fingers and saying “I don’t want to make a lot of money. I just LUUUUV to sell guns.”
Others may remember him from the debate on the Assault Weopons Ban. he was on national TV, C-span and every venue he could find to voice his support for it.
so, my brother asked him “why?”
He laughed long and hard, and said “because I had several shipping containers full of of the items on the list and I made a fortune jacking the price and selling them before the Ban went into effect”
(I used the quotes because those were his exact words, as best my memory serves)
