How would we know all that he’s done or said. There seems to be no shortage of threats, violence and erratic behavior. The neighbors were sure eager to talk and glad that he moved away. If he is threatening others and brought ammo and knives to school, he was subject to arrest.
The system had already failed him repeatedly and systematically for over a decade. He likely should have been institutionalized at a much earlier age. Whatever he did at school should have been reported to the police and juvenile hall.
He should been arrested for some of his earlier assaults against his brother, mother and for cruelty to animals. His neighbors could have also prosecuted him.
IDK. Just a guess ...an ex-Soviet bloc country or from a teen girl who had emigrated from that region to NY.
The dad Cruz was in his early Sixties when Nik came first and followed by Zach 18 months later. Mom was in her fifties. It’s a highly unusual arrangement unless they are family related.

I believe we can be certain the shooter was never ‘Baker Acted’ in any of the 39 times visited by Democrat Sheriff Israel. Otherwise, someone would have reported it.

Agreed, the most telling comment is the neighbor that said that Lynda Cruz tried to send the boys to live with that neighbor’s daughter up north after her husband died in 2004.
The boys were already too much for them to handle as little kids. They could have been a contributing factor to the dad’s heart attack and they sure stressed the mother horribly.

looks that way. The minor boy should have been taken into cps the day the mother died. Social services at the hospital should have been involved. They should also have stepped into the assist the 18yo with things like SS benefits. It looks more and more like both were allowed to drift. And why didn’t they remain in their own home in the first place - why were both boys homeless?
What video games had Zachary been playing? Where did he go to school? I haven’t heard anything about him other than this.

Although all the concerned relatives are speaking up now after the massacre, they were absent for the mother and her sons.
None attended Lynda Cruz’s funeral or took in their nephews.

I originally suspected it was an extended family adoption where a niece or young cousin gives up her babies to an older relative before she goes to jail, dies or submits to hard-core drugs.
At their ages (62 & 50), it would be nearly impossible to get an American adoption approval for babies. They likely did come from an Eastern-bloc country. The Russians do not give up their healthy babies but they were selling the ones with problems and disabilities. Well-meaning naive Americans were buying.
It’s not unusual for a retired Army guy to be involved in ROTC and his son is likely on the marksmanship team. I wouldn’t read too much into it.
What is curious is that a scrawny awkward oddball unfocused kid would possibly dream of ever being in the Army, particularly Spec.Ops. as he told the group. I think his premeditation and planning is much longer than most have guessed. Cruz didn’t just snap after his mommie’s death. His post regarding being a “professional school shooter” was 3 months prior to her demise.
Somewhere at sometime I think it was written that Cruz researched or watched a documentary on the Texas Tower Sniper killing and commented (online) that he wanted to be famous ‘just like that sniper’ If that is true, it would explain his feigned interest in ROTC which granted him access and training in marksmanship conveniently for free.
Cruz is a pathetic guy coming of age as a complete dysfunctional loser with multiple negative issues. This act would give his ego the boost he could never legitimately achieve on his own accord. Plus he craved the drama of starring in his own St. Valentine’s Day massacre.
He was one effed-up kid, no doubt about that. His poor mother.

A commenter calling themselves Nikolas Cruz wrote this under a clip about another infamous mass shooting. It’s since emerged the teen’s social media pages were filled with disturbing content, with ex-schoolmates claiming they “knew he would shoot up the school”.
And it has now been claimed that Cruz - who has since been charged for the attack - posted an ominous comment on a YouTube video about another infamous massacre.
Writing underneath a documentary clip about the notorious 1966 University of Texas clock tower sniper, a commenter called Nikolas Cruz wrote: “I’m going to [do] what he did.”
The comment has seemingly been deleted from the website since news of the shooting broke.
