Nets Push Fake News Trump Made It Easier for Mentally Ill to Buy Guns

Fresh off their disinformation campaign in the immediate aftermath of the Parkland, Florida school shooting in which they falsely claimed there had been 18 school shootings this year, the three major network news outlets (ABC, CBS, and NBC) moved on to another fake news topic they wanted to push on the American people: President Trump and the GOP made it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns.

The accusation that a bill designed to remove restrictions and allow the mentally ill to purchase guns was passed by the GOP and signed by President Trump had long been debunked. As the National Review’s Charles C.W. Cooke wrote over a year ago, what got removed was “in layman’s terms: The rule would have allowed bureaucrats within one of our federal agencies to bar American citizens from exercising a constitutional right — and on the highly questionable grounds that to be incapable of managing one’s finances is, by definition, to be a ‘mental defective.’”

And the bill wasn’t even supported by the NRA. But it was supported by the liberal ACLU and the American Association of People with Disabilities. Yet that didn’t stop the networks from pushing lies and being appalled that the President wasn’t exploiting the situation to push gun control as their previous president did.

“The President's efforts to comfort the nation tonight striking for what he didn't say,” chided White House Correspondent Peter Alexander during NBC Nightly News. “President Trump in a nearly seven-minute statement not once mentioning the word ‘Guns.’ Instead, again signaling his focus is on the mental health of shooters, not the weapons they use.” He then spewed a torrent of fake news:

If it smells, it sells. And the anti's are lapping it up. I've seen this sack of BS stated a few different place already. But it suits their goals of scaring the crap out of mindless bots.

The usual garbage.....everything is Trump’s fault. Dumba**es.

Last night on Hannity a psychologist stated that 70% of Americans have signs of mental disorders. Tackle that!

It was liberals who supported the repeal of a rule that allowed bureaucrats to decide if your mental state disqualified you from owning a gun.

Now they want to reinstate it to score political cheap points about gun ownership. Liberal hypocrisy never ceases to astound.

Voting for a democrat should be definite proof of a serious mental disorder.

But, being “tran-gendered” probably won’t land someone in the nutcase column? World gone nuts!

The tendency to shift accountability from the person responsible to a remote individual is the cause of much merriment to some of us.

What we need is a loosening of the rule a doctor can only order commitment if a person is a danger to self or others. If someone needs help immediately but don’t meet that criteria, the docs hands are tied and it may be two months for the person to get help, if at all. I’ve seen it several times.

Seldom see the display of hate from conservatives. I mean I couldn’t stand the lyin’ king but damn. These people have not just raised the bar, like the ford truck commercial says, they ARE the bar.

Did he buy the guns before or after Trump was elected or overturned Obama’s order?

Was he a registered Dem or Rep?

Thanks.

These outright liars need to be punished. Freedom of the Press doesn’t mean freedom of fake news.

Thanks. I’ve got people at church repeating and magnifying this particular fakery, those who only seem to get their opinions from TV news.

There are other issues that need to be looked at too. I know a man that had mental issues, he went off the beam with his girlfriend, trashed all her stuff in the yard, set it on fire because she was leaving him and would not go back to the house to talk to him. He also threatened her on the phone. His sister is a nurse at a nearby hospital and she felt he needed a psych evaluation, so she made it happen with the cooperation of the Sheriff’s department (due to the domestic violence) he was supposedly locked up against his will for psych hold and evaluation. He was taken in on a Friday. On Monday morning he was back to acting normal and the hospital he was at just let him sign himself out without any evaluation being done. His family was upset, they thought he really needed help. He ended up killing himself a few months later, in my opinion very lucky he did not kill the ex-girlfriend.

So the system is broken if no one follows the laws, as hard as it is to get someone committed for psych issues- but then they can just leave without any evaluation?

I think our whole mental health process is broken, we need to make a bunch of changes.
