The Left should compare this to the case of Ross Mirkarimi, the former sheriff of San Francisco.
In 2012, Mirkarimi was accused of beating his wife, and there were photos of her bruised body. Mirkarimi pleaded to lesser charges. The mayor suspended Mirkarimi, but he sued to be reinstated and won.
Mirkarimi lost his 2015 reelection bid.

I’ve been in the shower and noticed a massive bruise and had no idea how I got it.
Then the other day I moved my motorcycle while in sandals. Well the bike tippec over while I was straddling it.
The foot peg jammed into my foot.
Barely left a mark or even hurt the next day.
