What, really, does it accomplish to bring this up, even if it’s true? What can anyone really do about it?

We need to go back to merit based school admissions and hiring because the whole affirmative action business is what keeps this divisive discussion going.

If you can’t identify a problem, you can’t solve it.

Being afraid to ask the question kind of gets in the way of identifying the problem.

IMO our real underlying problem is that we don’t value people for their humanity, values, and their souls. We judge on good looks, wealth, IQ.

Dr. Charles Murray caught hell for pointing some statistical outcomes involving affirmative action. Telling the truth is no longer acceptable. Tell a lie, live a lie, be a lie. The new survival code.

Same could be said for studying and bringing up slavery. It is long gone and we should focus on issues today like destruction of the family.

Well you kind of answered your own question. Its a disagreeble subject certainly, but it is relevent evidence in an analysis of if non equal outcome is neccesarily due to prejudice, which is a fudemental assumption driving affirmative action policy.

Who raised these kids? Storm Front? :)

It is likely that there is an order and I would put asians at the top.

But you’re right? What exactly was the POINT of the experiment?

How were they planning to rectify it!?!?

And what mom or dad said “hey, that’s a GREAT idea!” :)

And then there’s nurture vs nature.

Agreed. This metric ignores the individual for the abstract collective. But tribal politics is here for quite a bit longer. It has become both sword and shield.

Do you not see the conflict between the two lines of text you wrote?

In order to return to a merit-based system, we must first do away with the moral-relativistic lie that there are no differences between anything.

In order to do that, we need to re-establish a criteria of what is intelligence.

In order to do that, we need to draw a distinction between the capacity to think, to comprehend, to analyze, to synthesize and to create.

This student is pointing out what was accepted as fact up through the first half of the 20th century and which was overturned by the Boazian school of anthropology. In short, in the nature vs. nurture debate, the Boazians through out all nature and said that all differences between people were little more than a ‘social construct’ brought about by the evil, corrupt Judeo-Christian values and traditions upon which Western Civilization is founded.

It is an established (scientific, to those of you who worship at the altar of the physical science and scoff at metaphysics) that on average the brains of whites are larger and heavier than those of blacks.

This student is simply trying to extrapolate from that to determine whether — based upon the current thought stream that all human intelligence is strictly brain-related and has nothing to do with that silly, metaphysical notion of the Soul — that extra brain capacity equates to a higher overall intelligence (according to classical measures, not the current “self-esteem” and “self-expression” standards in the government-run schools).

I think this student’s science project is not only a sign of extreme courage, of true independence, but I think it is actually a sign of true genius given the current climate that abhors the differences inherent in God’s creation (a beautiful thing) and try to make the claim and to brainwash the masses into believing there are no difference except those caused by the evil, corrupt traditions and values of Western Civilization.

I agree. You can fix bad learning environments. But you can’t fix IQ. So any racial IQ study can only do harm. It can only further Balkanize this country.

Let’s suppose some study shows that race A has a higher IQ than race B. What’s a member of race B to make of that? Will he say, “By golly, we sure are a stupid people.” No. He more likely to say, “To hell with race A.” End result: Balkanization.

I’d much rather focus on the IQ of the individual. If you can’t pass the test needed to get a job, you don’t get that job, period. No quota system. No affirmative action.

It’s a cultural phenomenon, not an inherent one.

[We need to go back to merit based school admissions and hiring because the whole affirmative action business is what keeps this divisive discussion going.]

you are absolutely correct! But not politically correct.

Affirmative Action is a product of Cultural Marxism. Affirmative Action is an affirmation of the Marxist takeover of our culture, and by extrapolation, of our society.

Affirmative Action’s history includes the ACLU.

It would be instructive and eye opening to learn the history of the ACLU.

If I described what really happened I would be banned. Yes, even on Free Republic. I have seen others zotted for telling the truth about political correctness, and who and what is behind it.

Everything is political today. But more and more things are not correct.

And as you say, catmom, we must return to a merit based culture and society.

Affirmative Action is a body blow to a merit based body politic.

The divisive discussion is going to increase. And it will lead to action we both long for and fear.

Your following statement goes a long way to answer your prevailing question.
