Former President George W. Bush was supportive of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program Thursday, as he told an audience at a summit in Abu Dhabi that the U.S. needs to welcome them.
Beyond that, he said at the summit hosted by the Milken Institute, a California-based economic think tank, that Americans should be thanking the illegal immigrants for doing jobs they refuse to do.
"Americans dont want to pick cotton at 105 degrees, but there are people who want put food on their familys tables and are willing to do that, he said, according to The Associated Press. "We ought to say thank you and welcome them.
Bush, who was critical of President Trumps approach to DACA, said Americas their home, referring to the programs recipients.
Trump announced in September he was ending the program with a six-month delay to allow Congress to come up with a permanent fix. That deadline of March 5 is rapidly approaching, he continues to warn lawmakers.
Bush acknowledged the U.S. immigration system is broken and explained that he tried [to fix it], but unsuccessfully.
It is important for our economy and also important for our soul that the immigration system functions well, he said.
Speaking of the U.S.s relationship with Mexico, he said its vital for our economy and for our stability. Weve got to enforce our borders and weve got to enforce our laws.
W should stay in Abu Dhabi.
While I regret giving this alcoholic idiot my vote two times, I’m thankful that I never sent him any money.
Open Borders George? Why not just the lot of them camp on your property?
Says the cat who lives at the end of a white-only, heavily guarded swanky cul-de-sac in illegally immigrated Dallas
As time marches on the love for W becomes strongly extinguished.
If I were to make a list of the five worst American presidents, George W. Bush would be on that list.
When the politicians give away all their money & open their homes to any and all comers, then maybe I’ll think about it.
Show them the door
Im starting to think Kanye was right...
And people complain about nationalism/populism?
You and me both. But the alternative......
Why we’re so glad that Jeb! didn’t win. He would have opened the flood gates.
W continues to show through his statements that he is not a Republican but a Rat. He refused ever criticize obola in 8 years, yet he has repeatedly criticized our President over the past one year and even during the election cycle.
“Americans dont want to pick cotton at 105 degrees...”
What a lie. Plenty of people would do it, but they’re not going to do it for $4 an hour.
These people are scum, thinking we should be grateful for depressed wages.
That’s why your numbers were so low when you left office, President Bush.........................and why your bro JEB could never, ever get elected to national office, or I doubt reelected in the land of Florida without illegal aliens voting for HIM!
George W. Bush has become a repulsive lowlife.
If only there was a way for Ag and other businesses to have workers come over on a temporary status to do those jobs where it is difficult to find US workers.
Oh wait. There is.
